Original Driver: 1992 Ford Mustang LX Convertible

No, this pretty blue Mustang wasn’t photographed on a steep incline or upgrade. For some reason, the seller took only portrait mode photos (maybe he/she has a landscape photo mode phobia) and most feature the Mustang at an extreme 45-degree angle. Click through the 12 supplied photos too quickly and you could get a bit woozy. Poor photo approach aside, what we have here is a clean, mostly original 1992 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 Liter 5-speed convertible with only 79,900 original miles on the clock. It is currently enjoying that warm California sun in Sanger, California (near Fresno) and is for sale here on craigslist for $16,800 or best offer. Another thank you to Rocco B for sending this beautiful blue ‘Stang our way.

Based on the limited photos, this 3rd generation Mustang presents very nicely. The seller says the original paint is Marina Blue, but based on the ’92 Mustang sales brochure and online Mustang paint sources, this is actually called Bimini Blue. It’s a pretty shade of blue and has an impressive shine and no visible flaws. The Mustang’s trim, badging, glass, power white top, and the 5-spoke cast aluminum wheels look good and there’s no sign of rust. The seller claims its never been in an accident.

The White/Tatanium interior is a handsome choice and looks to be very well preserved. The white bucket seats (the seller describes them as leather, but I believe they’re vinyl), look very good with no visible flaws. The interior photos are limited and there are no photos of the full instrument panel and dash. The seller says the car is original except for an upgraded Bluetooth touch screen stereo with phone capability (and the original AM/FM stereo radio with a cassette tape player is included in the sale).

For the fun factor, this Mustang has a Borg Warner 5-speed transmission. And for the convenience factor, it’s equipped with power steering, power seats, power windows, power disc brakes, and a power convertible top.

Under its Bimini Blue hood rests the 5.0L High-Output V8 that generated 225 horsepower when new. It only has 79,000 miles on it and the seller says it “runs and drives very smooth and is a really fun car to drive.” Overall, this appears to be a nice survivor. Based on no history shared and the seller not knowing the correct paint color or seat upholstery, this might be a flip. Then again, it might not. Either way, on the surface it’s an attractive ’92 Mustang LX drop top that I bet would be fun to drive.

I agree Ron, a very pretty Fox Body convertible which looks to be in good shape. Most any Fox Mustang is a desirable piece especially when in clean, stock condition. Not as many convertibles with manual transmissions so that makes this one stand out a bit. Lots of top-down fun to be had.

Killer deal.I am not a Ford guy but got hooked on these Fox bodies in the early 90’s. Worked on a lot of them.Weak link in the gear shifting department was the crappy plastic gears cable operateds clutch pedal mechanism under the dash.Always stripped teeth.

I wonder if anyone knows the number of air bags in front? I know the driver has one

If I recall that year only had a drivers side it wasn’t until 96 they went to driver and passenger, also in 96 it has the OBD 2 scanner for engine diagnosis where 92 is OBD1

Nice car, I find myself shopping for one of these but the funny thing is my current car has a sunroof I never open so makes me wonder if I would truly enjoy having a convertible.

Troy, that was always my thought…. I had cars with sunroofs which I rarely used (including my current F150 daily driver). Then I got a convertible Mustang, and it makes it all worthwhile when I hear the grandkids say “Papaw can we go in the convertible?”.

As Ron points out, I believe it is Bimini Blue which is a factory color.
