Original Paint, Interior: 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS

The big news at Chevrolet for the 1964 year was the introduction of the new mid-size Chevelle, which turned out to be a big hit. But the full-size Chevies were making noise of their own as the Impala Super Sport (or SS) was now a series of own and more than one third of the 536,300 Impala 2-door hardtops built that year were Super Sports or some 155,000 cars. This ’64 beauty is one of those cars and looks to be in great shape with both its original paint and interior intact. But it’s received a few performance upgrades to the engine. Located in Los Angeles, California, this SS is available here on Facebook Marketplace for $50,000 OBO.

Features of the 1964 Impala SS included different side moldings, SS wheels covers and the SS emblem on the rear quarters. The cars also had an all-vinyl interior with bucket seats and a center console for the Powerglide automatic transmission as in the seller’s car. We only have a couple of photos from the seller to gauge the quality of this car, but it looks sweet from what little we can see. The paint is said to be as applied at the factory and looks like Silver Blue in color. The white interior is also as it was built and the seller says it’s in good shape, too. It appears to have fender skirts in the rear and curb feelers up front.

This SS comes with a 327 cubic inch V8, but we don’t know if it’s numbers-matching or the L30 (250 hp) or L74 (300 hp) version. It carries an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and the ignition system is now electronic. The SS has a set of headers with a pair of Flow Master glass-packs. The brakes have been converted to discs up front and there is a Bluetooth stereo in the passenger cabin. In the kind of condition this car appears to be, Hagerty estimates $25-35,000 as the resale value range. We borrowed this photo from Hemmings to provide another view of what the car may look like.

Guys, I think they need us to send in some tips. This ad is not worthy of a feature on Barn Finds.

It is a 327, priced like a 409. Gorgeous car though.

I bought a car that looked much like this one in 1972 for $150.00. The exception being a blue interior. The 327 went into my ’56 Bel-Air. I bought a 454 out of a wrecked ’70 Chevelle and put a Muncie M-22 behind it. With a 3:08 posi, that car was a beast! I drove it from Chicago to Boston, spent a week and drove to Portland, Or. where it was stolen off the street. But man, what a car!

Just an FYI from the description. Silver Blue was not available with a white interior. White interiors in 64 came w/either red or turq accents, so this car would have to be Azure Aqua if it had a white int. originally.

Looks like 3 different cars. Blue interior, white interior, black interior. then one has fender skirts, another has “Curb Feelers” Which car belongs to the story, or is this another made up story?
