Within the next year, Ford tells us we will see a brand new Bronco. Images we have seen lead us to believe they will try to bring back some of the styling magic from the original Bronco. But if you want the real classic, here is one you may be interested in. This 1971 Ford Bronco is for sale here on eBay in Idaville, Indiana at a Buy it Now Price of $29,000.
This Bronco wears its original Candyapple Red paint with a contrasting Wimbledon White hardtop. There is no rust on the body, so apparently, it has been garaged much of its life. The Bronco includes the hardtop and a soft top. Also included are a set of leaf springs, four heavy duty shocks, white wheel rims, and silver wheel rims. Two extra tires are also included.
The interior is original, including seats and wood trim. Nothing fancy here, just a basic four-wheel-drive vehicle interior. The transmission is a 3-speed (three on the tree) manual. It appears to have an aftermarket tachometer and steering wheel cover.
The seats appear to be free of rips, at least the back seats do. Something apparently has been stored on the back seat leading to what is hopefully only a temporary crease in the seat. Even though they are white, these vinyl seats might possibly be cleaned up pretty good.
The engine is a 302 cubic inch V-8. It does run and has covered only 51,730 miles over the last 48 years. It also has new power brakes. The vehicle was inherited from the seller’s stepfather and he/she is unable to give it the care it needs. If you would like to do a little four wheeling in classic style, this may be the vehicle for you.
I could never understand why these older broncos are so desired? They are prone to rolling over and to me are kind of small and awkward looking. I don’t mean to cut on these older broncos but the high prices they demand makes no sense? I will say that I’ve seen a few nice copies over the years but they were going for insane $$$.
Simplicity of design, ruggedness, man card approved. More than that, I can’t say.
Much like the craze over the early VW Transporter/Bus; why on earth are folks paying $100K+ for them??
I have had 2 first generation Broncos and we 4 wheeled a lot in the 80’s, never rolled one once. Easy to work on, simple design, rugged and not for the man bun / purse crowd. But I will never pay these crazy prices so I guess I will never have a 3rd one.

For $29k, you’d think he would have cleaned the interior a little (vacuum the carpet) and have someone mount and balance 2 tires. Judging the paint quality, a closer inspection will be recommended prior to throwing down that kind of cash. Some things I see make me question the originality of the paint, even if it is the original color. Why wouldn’t the right front fender flair be white like the rear?
I agree with you Poncho. As far as the front fender flares he didn’t put any on, some people just cut the back wheel openings for larger / wider tires then add flares leaving the fronts as is because they would except bigger tires without cutting up the fender. That was one complaint most people I knew that had these early Broncos questioned why Ford never did this when designing the Bronco, the newer version to come out in 2020 does have equal wheel openings from the pictures I’ve seen.
The rears we’re a common add on, as the rear wheelwells covered part of the tire when new. And eliminating the chance of putting the wider Wheels he is installed on it. It was a very common probably 9 out of 10 Broncos were cut James Duff and a few other companies made the flares. They were made out of fiberglass or flexible rubber
The seller never claims it runs, they claim IT WILL run, once a battery is installed. They might also want to bolt up the drivers side exhaust, I’d be surprised it that’s all it needs.
It’s hard to see $29,000 for a non-running Bronco even if it’s a nice as the seller claims.

Yee Steve you would think for the Ask of 29 large they would have it running. These things are bringing some serious coin. As one of the guys said, you can put one of these on its roof right quick. Put a non driver in it with more money than brains who thinks its cute and watch ’em roll.

Simpson had a full-sized Bronco, not an original one. They’re completely unrelated, other than the use of a Windsor engine.
Granted, the market for these old Fords is red-hot right now, but this asking price is ridiculous. Running and cleaned up, and it’s maybe worth $18k. Honestly, most people don’t want a three-speed, much less on the column. With respect to value, rust-free doesn’t mean sanity-free.
Way over priced as others have noted.
It’s also not a 1971 model. The VIN decided out as a February 1969 build which is also borne out by the fact that it has low-mounted reflectors on the front fenders instead of the mid-fender marker lights that a ‘71 would have.
Im with every body else, thats alot of money for an old truck that rides rough. With that said if this was untouched bone stock in this condition the price and the market value would be pretty close.
The advertisers copy claims the wood trim is original, so that gives a hint of how well informed they likely are.
If you’ve ever had the opportunity to help someone who is not knowledgeable in the old/collectable car hobby and who’s inherited the deceased enthusiasts “treasure”, then you know what often happens. A well meaning friend/neighbor/acquaintance tells them it’s “worth a lot of money because it’s rare/desirable/yada yada”. They even opine as to what they’ve seen these sell for (okay, not really a sale but either some TV hype, or inflated advertised price). The potential seller hears a gold mine outcome and can’t wait to cash in. Someone knowledgeable comes along and tries to inject some reality, but the seller doesn’t know what they don’t know. “Just gimme the money……”. How long will it take for them to figure this one out?
Uncle Bob is right. Everybody likes to blame it entirely on greed, it’s more often than not there is a healthy dose of ignorance involved.

Being involved in the antiques & collectibles business for many years, I’ve learned a few things about what people expect when they want to sell something “valuable” or “rare.” They usually do a little checking around meaning the Internet or some nitwit who “knows” what it is worth. They see several “just like it” or “almost the same” and whether they see a few prices or fifty, guess which one they latch on to? The highest, of course. They then spend an inordinate amount of time, money and energy chasing that elusive, unobtainable value and finally choose one of two options. They won’t sell it “until I get my price” figuring every body is just low-balling them, or they wake up and get what they can.
An item is worth what someone is willing to pay for it on a given day. I’ve seen folks way over-pay for things and I’ve seen people pass on very good deals. If somebody comes up with 29 large for this Bronco, that’s what it’s worth. To at least one person, anyway.
The seller claims it only needs the 2 drivers side tires put on and a battery, well you better put on some kind of exhaust on that drivers side header before driving it home..

Not the original air breather looks like 5.0 valve covers which may explain flex rad hose and what looks like an adapter bell housing. Could be a 6 banger in former life. But what I want to know is if that great looking paint is original why does the dash look the way it does. BTW the only wood trim I see is the house panaling in the back with the 70s shag. I’d go maybe 5 grand after I checked every square inch with a magnet.
Don’t expect to much from new Bronco.
Will be ugly new looks and all wheel drive.

Easy question to answer – because most were cut to hell after a few years and the boomers are driving the price now…..and would I pay that – no.
A column mounted Sun tach is the last thing I would expect to see in an otherwise stock early model Bronco.
Nicer, cleaner one now listed for 20K….
