I know I’m way off on what I think is a good look for a vintage 4×4 pickup, as I think this 1964 Ford F-250 4×4 looks 100% perfect. At least stance-wise, height-wise, and wheel-size-wise. The seller has this former 2WD truck posted here on craigslist in Burley, Washington, and they’re asking $5,500. Here is the original listing, and thanks to Curvette for the tip!

I’m probably one of the few living humans who wouldn’t put giant off-road tires on this truck. I would add a front bumper, but I think the wheels and tires are perfectly sized for this truck. It looks like the size that would have been on this truck when it was new, like something you’d see in a 1964 Ford brochure. Although, this one would have originally been in the rear-wheel drive section of the brochure, as it was converted to 4WD at some point.

The seller doesn’t give any info on that at all, but they do show a couple of underside photos, and it looks solid, with just heavy surface rust underneath. The body on this fourth-generation F-250 looks solid all over, with maybe some rust starting in the seams, cracks, and crevices here and there. The bed floor looks solid, again with maybe some rust starting in the seams, and there’s a patch panel on the right side in the front of the bed, as you can see in the photo.

The fourth-generation F-Series was made from October 1960 for the 1961 model year until the end of 1966, and this Rangoon Red example has a healthy coating of surface rust. Is that an oxymoron? This truck would look sharp repainted red with new tires (which it needs) and those white rims, or wheels, as most people say these days. We grew up calling vehicle rims “rims.” The “wheel” was the whole assembly of tire and rim where I grew up, maybe it’s a regional thing. The interior looks pretty nice overall, even the blanket seat cover. You can see the four-speed manual and the transfer case (Dana? Spicer?) shift next to it with a blue knob.

The air cleaner is somewhere in the truck, I hope. This is Ford’s 352-cu.in. OHV V8, which had 208 horsepower, and it appears to have power brakes, so that’s nice. Power steering would be nice, but I believe this truck has a divorced transfer case, and those didn’t typically come with power steering until several years later. One of our Ford expert readers will hopefully know that for sure. At $5,500, this sure seems like a good deal in 2025 dollars. Any thoughts on this one?

Wasn’t the 352 in the Galaxie called the interceptor special or something like that 🤔
Interceptor/Thunderbird Special 352’s were in play from ’58 to ’61 if memory serves correctly. 4bbl and 10.5/1 compression, 300 gross hp and about 400 ft lb torque. My grandpa had one in his ’58 Fairlane 500 Fordor Sedan, and I have one in my ’59 Thunderbird. Moves(d) those tanks with considerable aplomb.
I left out with the intro of the 390 in ’61 the 352 became for the most part the 2bbl garden variety torque monster.
Sounds like you have a sweet 59′ T-Bird there innkeeper 👍🏁
It has a lift kit in it, with “helper” coil springs over the rear shocks. It has an upper radiator flexi-hose trying to rip off the upper radiator inlet. The battery looks to be held in with hopes and dreams, and is that a huge dent in the left valve cover next to the coil? I see yellow housewire electrical caps here and there. There’s enough Mickey Mouse stuff going on to make me overlook the beautiful patina on this and doubt the integrity of the unseen. Hopefully someone can straighten this out.
Definitely needs a bungee cord on that battery….
