Outlaw’s Dang Garage! 1964 Chevrolet C-10

“Patina” is the description that the seller of this 1964 Chevrolet C-10 Custom stepside pickup lists on the eBay ad. It wears it well. Any guesses as to the current bid price? $599? HA, no, that was the yellow Geo Storm.. This truck is up to $49,900 so far. No, really. $100 short of $50k, or several times the price that your parents paid for their house. $50k for a truck that has rust holes in it. But, it has a few surprises. This custom is in Parker, Colorado and I’m guessing that you could fly in and drive it home, and use the new oak bed to store your speeding tickets in.

It’s hard to beat the first-generation Chevy C-10 pickups, and a stepside is even more popular with hot rodders. This truck was built by Outlaw’s Dang Garage. I haven’t heard of that one, at least with the Dang part thrown in there. We’ve all heard of Outlaw Garage, Jesse James’ joint in Austin, TX. You may hear from these folks in the future if you haven’t already. Here’s a YouTube video showing the unveiling of this gosh-dang truck. These guys ain’t drivin’ no Geo Storm! Maybe driving over one, but that’s it. This was a Kansas truck so there really isn’t a lot of rust on it, just enough to make you want to drive it instead of keep it in the garage.

A show of hands of who expected to see this interior here? Three? That’s about right. I did not expect to see such a cool, clean-with-bits-of-used-originality interior in this pickup. The looks are a bit deceiving because there has been gosh-dang (watch the video) load of work done on this truck. I can’t list everything that was done, we’d be here until Thursday afternoon, but here’s a partial list: “all tie rod ends, pitman arm, idler arm, all ball joints, installed front and rear sway bar, powder coated steel wheels, A/T tires, all new drum brakes, front and rear airbag suspension,  all new Monroe shocks, body mounts, rebuilt 12 bolt posi rear end, plugs and wires, battery, fuel pump, alternator, Edelbrock carb, flywheel and clutch kit, entire truck has been re-wired (new fuse block and brand new wires)”, and the list goes on and on.

This ain’t no gosh-dang SOHC or even DOHC Geo Storm four-popper! This baby is a 350 V8 with more than enough power to motivate this truck. A set of headers would have been nice, but hey, the price would be way over $50,000 then! How about this custom Custom? What would you have done differently or is it gosh-dang perfect?!

I bought my 16 year old son the K10 version of this same body style and year. What a rusted POS it was but he had to have it. After a day of breaking rusted bolt heads off and busted knuckles he begged me to sell it which I did at a loss. This one is decent driver but not 50K worth. Heck I can’t get 40K for our 70 Mach1 and it’s a multiple 1st place trophy winner.

      THAT’S a good-looking truck,and considering it don’t have a garbage 350 you’ll be able to get at least $72,000 of it.
      But seriously,that is a nice-looking Ford.

3 to 4 times what the truck is worth. I would venture to say that someone is ghost bidding the truck up ….

I have to tell you that the first thing I look at on any of the “resto-mods” is the brake master cylinder. This $50K truck is still running the stock drum brakes and a single pot master cylinder which most manufacturers figured out wasn’t safe sometime around Beatlemania. Manual steering, no a/c, no chassis pictures, stock 3 speed manual transmission, etc., all make me think this is a $12K truck. I like the look but the mechanicals are half done and there’s lots of unanswered questions and the stuff you can see makes you wonder about the quality of the work that was done. Saw completely restored pickups going in the $30K range at the Mecum auction this weekend — this doesn’t come close.

That truck is for the most part a low buck build with a couple of buzz worthy additions to draw in the uneducated trend followers. Patina, air bag suspension, oak bed and a YouTube reveal video that looks like an audition for a second rate TV show.

If the winning bidder actually pays they will be laughing all the way to the bank. I think there is a good chance this thing gets relisted in a week or two.

That seat is a stock, mid-nineties, F-series Ford, extended cab, seat from a XL trim level truck. The rubber floor cover is from the same Ford truck. I’d say this piece is worth in the neighborhood of 10K.

Knock a zero off. Nice 90s Ford bench seat, really gives me confidence in the “build”. It’s a stock clapped out c10 with a cookie cutter probably half assed 350 swapped in (which doesn’t add to the value AT ALL). Maybe I should start calling myself an “outlaw” then my rotted out 62 Chevy 4×4 panel truck would be worth a million dollars 😉

What? Fake bids? Just because there’s nine bids from nine different bidders and no rebids? Happens all the time, said no one ever.

Wow just wasted 20 minutes watching Kid Rock and Larry the cable guy impersonators trying to unload a truck to me. I can’t believe they went to all the expense of installing a new suspension and didn’t convert the master cylinder to a dual bowl CRAZY !!!

If you go to the bidding history and click on the bidder it will tell you what percentage of that bidder’s activity is with this seller. In this case several of the bidders have 100% of their activity with this selller — in case you’re wondering that’s a bad sign. Looks like there’s maybe 1 or 2 legitimate bidders in the auction and they all dropped out a long time before it got to $50K.

We have a customer (we’re in Denver) who has a snazzy little ’64, same color scheme, that we popped a 383 stroker into and pretty much left the rest alone. we coulda’ve done more, but its just enough to be a sleeper, but make those nearby wonder why it sounds like it does. Honest truck, no-frills, and just plain fast. And even with the stroker, it ain’t worth nowhere NEAR 50k.

There is something irregular with the bidding on this truck. The high bidder placed his bid 4 days ago and other bids have just been bringing his bid amount up. I wonder what his max bid amount actually is. And then there are those 23 bids by someone with no feedback history. This auction sounds more like someone is selling a bridge.

LOL. This is just funny. $50k bid up by a bunch of shill bidders. The “builders” can’t even be bothered to put some “gosh dang” headers on, the interior is mismatched with at least 3 different colors and from multiple eras. Wow you did the front end…gollie! That’s worth a good $10k right there! The old car hobby needs a big shot on penicillin.

At that price he really not wanting to sale it. Maybe $15,000 to $18,000 but i’d put my money on a classic Cougar or Mustang which almost everyone has or wants. Come to think about it maybe a classic Camaro.

Yeah….right. Something tells me we will see this relisted shortly due to a “non paying bidder”, though these days Ebay won’t allow you to use that type of text because “some may find it offensive” as I’ve been told by Ebay.

Yup, look at the bidding history of the last 4 bidders — almost all 30 days history for each bidder with this one seller (especially wary of the guy that drove it from $15K to $35K with zero feedback and all bids with this seller). I would stand and point at this as blatant shill bidding BUT there was the Blazer that sold at Barrett-Jackson for $200K (that’s right — 200 large) plus 10% buyer’s fee so I guess anything’s possible.

I swear I thought they were joking when I saw the $50k price tag. Glad no one was dumb enough to fall for it.
Did a little more digging and this truck is now posted on Craigslist for $9000 (Reduced Price). This is about a $5500-$6500 truck at best IMHO.
