Package Deal – Stash of Chevrolet Camaros

Package deals are hard to consummate because it assumes a buyer is out there that wants all of it. In this case its four Chevrolet Camaros from 1969 and 1971. Plus, what appears to be a garage full of parts and spare engines and transmissions. All of this can be had for $65,000 for everything here on craigslist. The collection is located in Ahoskie, North Carolina. Rocco B. gets the credit for this interesting assortment of goodies.

The first generation of the Chevrolet Camaro debuted in 1967 and quickly became the biggest thorn in the Ford Mustang’s side – sales wise, that is. Something like 700,000 copies were sold in three years, and many of them were Super Sports, Rally Sports, and a combination of the two. The biggest year was in 1969 when 250,000 of the pony cars were built as there was a 15-month production run due to the all-new 1970 Camaro being late in getting to market.

When it finally arrived, the next Camaro (1970-81) had a “swoopier” appearance and would be a top seller briefly when the Mustang became a subcompact in the middle of the decade. The seller has managed to collect four Camaros which are all rollers and all are said to be rusty. Three are from 1969 as a pair of SS/RS coupes and one SS. Added to the mix is a 1971 Camaro which is a basic model.

The seller says he/she has $16,000 in new parts. Which means the asking price for all the cars and used bits and pieces is $49,000. We’re not sure how the seller came up with this figure, but he will not separate the pack (which might be the better way to find buyers but at more work on the seller’s part). The extras include transmissions, engines, blocks, and heads. Once you get past the price, the next issue is how to haul it all away?

Well, that’s a fair amount of…variety. But I think this seller is going to have to take a haircut now, or a bath later, as the ask has too much shag on it…

“Here’s all the junk I’ve collected over the years. It’s all rotted out and its in a thousand pieces. But give me 65 grand for it.”

I’ll break this Ad down in layman’s terms:

Here is my crap that I don’t want to deal with and most of it’s worthless, now give me $65 large.

But in all seriousness, this seller missed the boat. A decade ago someone may have paid close to this but today’s market is much different. The engine parts are so out dated and just not worth much now, unless someone is building a period correct hot rod/racer. Most are not, Resto Mods bring the money and those engines and parts don’t fit the bill. The cars are whatever, I own a 69 RS and still don’t see the value that this seller does.

    This is a HARD pass.

After he gets no calls for the whole collection at that price, it may dawn on him to call an auction company, put together some type of lots, let them deal with the headache, for a commission.

Ugh, I can appreciate someone thinking they should get back all they spent plus a little, but this is a joke, right? Surely there’s an extra zero in there by mistake?

At best, maybe the parts are worth a third of what was paid. And there’s only one salvageable piece of rust there.
