Parked for 53 Years! Update: 1954 Chevrolet Corvette

This amazing 1954 Chevrolet Corvette was featured here on Barn Finds in May of 2015. Back then the car was being auctioned by Cabin Fever Auctions in Douglassville, Pennsylvania. The car is currently located in Atlanta, Georgia and can be found here on eBay with a buy-it-now price of $54,000. When the auction was held, it had a selling price of $52,000.  It seems like the current seller is trying to get their investment back and not make much of a profit.

There isn’t much information regarding where the car has been the last three years. The current seller does say a few parts have been upgraded and modified, but the car remains largely original and untouched. As you can see from the interior photo, some elbow grease, and cleaning products will likely do wonders to transform the look of the car.

The engine is said to turn over and fire up. The original numbers-matching 6-cylinder is backed by a Powerglide transmission. For sitting for so long, it looks like it’s in decent shape. Hopefully it won’t take too much to get the car running reliably again.

Like the engine, the chassis looks fairly honest and clean. Obviously there is some surface rust on the steel components, but based on the photos, nothing looks structural. The ad indicates there are some parts that need to be replaced, but the structure is sound.

Overall, this is a really cool project car. It seems solid and the story is compelling. It would sure be nice to know what happened to the car since the auction in 2015. If you missed out on it then, or you’re looking for a great project, now is your chance. Don’t let it pass you by again.

A $ 50,000 plus time capsule that was used as a shelf. That’s a real head scratcher, but hopefully whoever buys this beautiful ’54 Corvette keeps it stock, gives it the love it deserves, and drives it !

Somebody needs to grab it a corvette from 1954 this complete is rare most of the little expensive things are there and a really good start for a restoreation of it hopefully somebody will just step up and snap it off the market one thing that would be nice to know is the # the car is in production for that year.

1954 just doesn’t seem to hold a candle to the 1953. Personally, it can’t be properly restored without taking a loss.

Gotta love people who never enjoy 😉 their car. This 235 I6 with an Auto is no race car and more of a flat land cruiser.

I am thinking 150 ponies with the automatic engine .

I sadly know where a 58 sits with so many magazines on the hood it probably cracking the Fiberglas. .. but the times I have stopped over the years with the same BS…”yep going to fix it someday “. The same story we all know and the same ending soon too as old man passes and relative unknowingly sells cheap to flipper…
The original owner wouldn’t take any price as it’s getting done next year or next or next as twenty plus years roll by..😮

And here I thought all the ‘barn find’ `53-`55 Vettes were found decades ago!! I’m amazed at how complete the interior looks for its age; carpet looks great! That removable top though…that isn’t factory. Looks fine, but needs the canvas cvt. top, which I hope is stored behind the seats! $54K doesn’t sound unreasonable, given what this is. Have to admit I’ve seen MUCH worse Vettes of this vintage that have been abused badly. I’m just sorry it got used as a catch-all for junk.

Was a removable hardtop even a factory option back then ?

No Craig. Not until the `56. Folding cvt. only `53-`55, although aftermarket sources even then made them, like this one.

Back in the mid sixties there was a 54 Corvette at a Texaco station I worked at I could have bought for $1200 and didn’t. I in the late sixties I sold my 57 Corvette the was in perfect condition for $3000. Should have bought when I did not and not sell when I did!.

At a $52,000.00 price you will be in he car slightly over 100,000.00. Why? If you don’t do your own wrenching, if the car stands up and is as described, there’s no alternative except to make it into the glory it should be. And you should be proud to drive it. If you are in this car for profit, forget. it. If you love the car, jump on it.

This vette motor with dual exhaust & good intake & 3 carbs should have put out more HP(but didn’t!) than grandma’s ’68 250 with single mickey mouse monojet carb, & ridiculous intake & exhaust manifolds, & partial blockage inside the motor on some ports, & very heavy restrictive sideways muffler & single exhaust that’s so quiet you can barely hear anything. lol
    I don’t get it.
