Pedigreed Pile: 1974 Jensen-Healey

1974 Jensen-Healey

The company that created this sports cars was formed by of some of the biggest names in sports cars, including Donald Healey himself! Jensen built it and Lotus powered it, but unfortunately it wasn’t the success that its founders had hoped it would be. Everything looked great on paper, but the engine turned out to be finicky and interest in sports cars was starting to wane. That doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a respectable car though. It was high-tech for the time a quite comfortable. The performance wasn’t bad either, with an SCCA championship win under its belt to prove it. Some 10,000 were made, but finding a good one today can be a real challenge. This project car just showed up here on eBay out of Kalamazoo, Michigan with an asking price of $1,500. Jensen-Healey may have some real pedigree, but is this rusty basketcase worth rescuing? Thanks Robert R. for the tip!

Having owned (and restored) a Jensen Healey and Jensen GT plus earlier Jensen models I think this one is beyond saving. The hardtop and other useable parts might justify the asking price though….

Wow, that poor thing is a mess. Jamie, I think the pair look much better. Other than the hood, the blue one almost looks decent. Too bad about the cannibalized 124 sedan.

Someone took the paint off in the spots where it was probably thin metal already (bottom of the fenders and rockers) and let it rust some more.

Which moron would do that and hope to recover any sort of ‘investment’ ???
