While many domestic limos from the period may have offered more bling, padding, gadgets, and over-the-top styling, the Mercedes-Benz 300D excelled in providing its occupants with a level of comfort that lasted for hours at a time, plus an initial build quality that was hard to beat. This 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D Pullman Limousine here on Facebook Marketplace has already traveled 287,309 miles, but the seller describes it as still performing flawlessly, so there’s probably some good life left here for the next owner to enjoy. Located in Los Angeles, California, this one’s priced at $14,500, and it might be worth considering if you’ve been on the hunt for a large German sedan to be chauffeured around in.

Beginning in late 1975, Mercedes-Benz produced a range of cars known as the W123 for just over ten years, with a longer-wheelbase variant known as the V123 introduced in 1978. Three types were made, including the 240D, 250, and the 300D, with this one being of the latter variety. With more than two feet added, this provided enough room inside for an extra row of fold-down seating, which appears in almost amazing condition considering the extensive use this limo has provided over the last four decades. The front area is also nicely preserved, and it’s obvious that this one has been well-maintained and received a high level of care.

Outside, the body looks far younger than its age, especially considering it’s seen nearly 300k miles of asphalt. The Anthracite Grey is a desirable color among Mercedes-Benz vehicles from this era, with the seller stating that the finish has recently undergone a paint correction process to restore it to a showroom shine. The trim, chrome, and even the wheel covers all appear to remain in excellent condition, so there’s probably little left to do outside, other than focus on maintaining its stunning presentation for years to come.

This one’s powered by its original 5-cylinder diesel engine, which is said to run flawlessly, with the bay still appearing to be in good order even after all those long-distance excursions. It’s paired with an automatic transmission that’s described as shifting seamlessly, with the seller believing this limo is still capable of providing a reliable driving experience. I’m surprised that this 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D Pullman hasn’t sold in the 30 weeks it’s been available, so maybe the asking price could be a bit high, or perhaps the right buyer just hasn’t seen this one yet. How much would you be willing to spend here?
Almosat sounds like a good deal,if you had a use for it.

ALMOST,ALMOST,ALMOST!
Metallic gray is a very unusual color for the Pullman, most long wheelbase W123s left the factory in German taxi beige.
Perfect limo for an “emerging dictator” who’s on a budget, appreciates classic cars and doesn’t want the attention of an RR.
These things were common in regional towns in Europe for weddings and funerals. I can’t think what you would do with it here.
Tint all the windows, remove that ugly grade school bench seat leg room obstacle, give it a full service and rent it with a driver for $200/ hour.
I’m certain that you will have it paid off in 6 months.
Seriously, if this “La Bamba” has all the service history and I lived in LA that’s what I would be doing for the next, say, umm 4 years.
Arrive somewhere in this , and onlookers will immediately bow from the waist, in humble respect!
I wanna know about the cars in the background, especially the 4-door Land Rover Series III 109.
Add says pending…. Someone has more interest than me, I’m the crazy person who would get one of those kits that convert this thing into a truck bed, it’s limo days are long behind it except for car shows or cars and coffee stuff
The price isn’t really what you’d pay; it’s what the seller would take. If it’s been for sale so long, he’ll be flexible. The miles scare off most people, but if the chassis is solid and you have a lot of kids, this would be useful.
one more thing bout the 300 or W123 is it was made into MB’s 1st in-house wagon (& the 1 to have in my mind). Previous volume wagon builders were all coach built (Binz, Lueg, Miesen) for the years before. Lesser volume Javernig, Pollman and IMA. Low volume were some ‘off continent’ builders in Latin Americ., Oz, Britain: Movauto, Rural, Crayford (in respective order). Nine coach builders, MB sure waited, but hada real hit w/the 300TDi wagon (made almost exclusively for usa mrkt) w/automatic only available and the mill mi motor OM617 (5 cyl diesel).
Since that model MB has hada wagon every single yr.
A MB W123 with 300,000 miles means the motor is just broken in. Mileage should not deter anyone from purchasing this beast. I may have missed it but in 1984 this would be turbocharged. I assume this is the case here.
Yes, should be turbo same as the shorter version, a very good engine. I had an 84 300SD about 20 years ago. I tuned it and it ran better when I sold it to an enthused young couple. Also ran on used filtered vegetable oil. Good for engine and smelled like french fries.
maybe I’m getting old but WHY……they look tired…..like an older RR….so what……..not a lot of design going on with either
Maybe not the most stylish car ever built but close the door once and you will know what a well constructed car feels like. Built like a Swiss watch. Amongst the best the Germans ever built.
I like the 1970/1971 full size CHEVY ON THE LIFT IN THE BACKGROUND.
