The 1969 model year for the Dodge Charger saw demand flourish for the car. Sales were strong after a record showing in 1968. The R/T performance model saw production approach 20,000 units for the first and only time. The seller’s ’69 Charger R/T has been painstakingly restored and has what he/she says is a rare combination of white paint, red interior, and red “Bumble Bee” stripe. With about 3,000 miles on the clock after being redone, this sharp Mopar is in Camarillo, California, and is available here on eBay for $105,100. That’s the current bid which has yet to crack the reserve, meaning bidding on this car will not be for the faint of heart. Mitchell G. has brought up another grand tip!
Considering how popular the Dodge Charger still is today (reflected in asking prices), it’s hard to believe the automobile was not an immediate success. After selling 35,000 copies in 1966 during its first outing, sales dropped by more than half the next year. It wasn’t until all of Chrysler’s B-bodied intermediates were redesigned in 1968 that buyers took the plunge big-time. Sales soared past 92,000 units in 1968 and remained mostly steady at 85,000 in 1969. In later years, more than 300 ’69 Chargers were used (and destroyed) in making the famous The Dukes of Hazzard TV show in the 1980s.
Besides a supposedly rare paint/interior combination, this Charger is numbers-matching. That means that the R/T has a 440 cubic inch V8 under the hood which was standard back in the day. It is paired with a TorqueFlite automatic transmission which came at no extra charge (per the MSRP sticker the seller provides). It’s a fully loaded automobile with factory air conditioning, power this and that, and a 6-Way driver’s seat. The Magnum 500 wheels help set the whole package off as stunning.
We’re told this machine lived in Arizona for much of its prior life. It’s a well-documented vehicle that has been restored by a Mopar aficionado (per the seller) and loads of receipts come with the deal which would indicate much of the asking price is tied up in restoration costs. No detail was spared in redoing the car, down to the gauges in the dashboard. Seeing an auto like this is akin to taking a trip down memory lane. For example, this Dodge was still new when man first landed on the Moon that Summer.
Professionally photographed, professionally priced but OMG it is incredible. Undoubtedly someone will say it’d be better with a stick-to each their own, but anyone driving this big bad Dodge would be smiling.
Very nicely done.
Yeah, just love the red interior and white paint. It’ll look good sitting in someone’s garage under a nice cover.
Wow.. I agree with Nevada, its stunning, and it actually has great pictures. Someone’s hand went into overdrive at the dealership when checking off the boxes, wowsers. 440, Torqueflite, the interior is gorgeous, Deluxe wood steering wheel, AC. I wonder how many people they dusted off at the traffic light with the windows up and the AC on? I can see it happening. This is a really nice color combo too. Just beautiful. Nicely restored!!! This is a great find!!!
Two WOWs. That transmission is a good one for that engine as it will get from stopped to fast in short order. Hope it’s got the limited slip rear gears to take all that.
Hard to beat white and red on a classic in my opinion. This Charger wears it very well. Quite attractive Mopar.
Quite the “Barn Find”…This site has become more of a marketplace than a site of dusty,long-sitting cars waiting to be discovered and resurrected. And yet I will still be a loyal fan…
Oh no! Anyway…
It has a good mix of everything, that will appeal the the broadest mix of people. They typically feature over a dozen per day, there is a little something for everyone.

It is pretty, I will give you that. Trouble is for 105 large, this car will never again be used for the intended purpose. Wouldn’t it be better to have a nice 318 car made to look this nice that you could actually drive? (and also not just from street light to street light) Just another example of how modern economic reality has grossly distorted something…and not in a good way. With all that said, again, a pretty sharp car. These didn’t look this good in the dealership if I recall.
Spent all that money on it and don’t have the right wheels on it. 14X6 with trim rings is what should be on it!
Beautiful car, expensive, but for good reason.

For six digits I think it fair to pick nits. I cannot tell whether the trim nut that holds the mirror control is missing or the light is just weird. Also, the gap between the glove box and the center where the AC ducts are is large. As I remember, in the green interiors, the side AC ducts matched the color of the interior, they were not black. Lastly, while I like that electronic ignition has been installed, it was not original to the car. It is a gorgeous car, to be sure, but for six digits I would expect original showroom condition.
Well, if I may draw your attention to the background, someone either dodged (no pun there) a bullet from the fires, or have to sell it to replace their house. Camarillo is, or was,I believe, near the Malibu fire, and decimated the area.
Okay, 6 figure Chargers may be out of most price range, especially with eggs $10/dozen, but help those folks if you can.
Camarillo is approximately 50 miles north and is located next to Oxnard.

US$10/dozen? Up here in the Greater Toronto Area most any supermarket sells them at the equivalent of US$2.85. Is the US egg producer industry governed by a marketing board?

California and many other states, especially on the west coast mandated cage free eggs exclusively. The problem is birds with the avian flu flying over poop or get into the communal area. If one bird on a farm tests positive, every bird is euthanized, so far 10’s of millions of chickens have met that fate over the last few months. The problem, along with high prices are likely to continue for some time and be reoccurring.

Not to nitpick but I thought all 1969’s had to have headrests? This car doesn’t have them. Waiting to see your comments.
If built after February the headrests were mandatory.
bit sloppy on the underside for the 105k bid. could be better. nice care though. too rich for me
Sure makes me miss mine, never should have let her go.
Where is da brake pedal?
This is one good looking Mopar. Lovely color combination. In my opinion todays Charger may be more advanced but it’s no where close to the originality of this Charger.
