Sometimes it is possible to look at a classic car on the internet and wonder what all of the fuss is about. At other times, you can look at the photos and instantly understand why it has generated enormous interest since it was listed for sale. The latter scenario is the case with this 1969 Mustang Mach 1. It presents superbly, and it seems that I’m not the only person who feels that way. Since it was listed for sale here on eBay, it has attracted an incredible 53 bids. The Mach 1 is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and with the bidding sitting at $49,400, the reserve has been met.
The owner of this Mustang says that it has undergone a rotisserie restoration. It isn’t clear when this happened or who performed the work, but the results are stunning. The Gulfstream Aqua paint holds an incredible shine, with no evidence of blemishes or flaws. The panels are perfectly straight, while the gaps and alignments are about as good as you could hope to find. The seller doesn’t mention any dramas with rust, and there are none in evidence in the supplied photos. The trim and chrome are flawless, as is the tinted glass. The photos show the Mustang wearing both Magnum 500 wheels, along with a set Mustang GT rims. I believe that the car will come fitted with the latter items, which seems only appropriate in a car of this type. Dealer-fitted options on the Mach 1 include the front and rear spoilers, along with the period-correct Sports Slats on the back window.
Ford offered a couple of different options when buyers needed to choose what to slot into the engine bay of their new Mach 1. The original owner ordered this one with an M-Code 351ci V8 that should be pumping out 290hp. The owner didn’t stop there because he also ticked the boxes next to the 4-speed manual transmission, Traction-Lok rear end, power steering, power front disc brakes, and the Shaker hood scoop. Combine all of those goodies, and this Mach 1 should not only demolish the ¼ mile in 14.7 seconds, but it should be capable of winding its way to 131mph. The Mustang is a numbers-matching car, which is good news from an investment perspective. The engine bay presents beautifully, and this is for a good and sound reason. That throbbing 351 has recently been treated to a rebuild, which means that it should be able to deliver the numbers that I quoted earlier. For all of that, the seller doesn’t provide any concrete information on how well the car runs or drives. If looks count for anything, the news should be pretty positive on that front.
If you are looking for something to criticize with this Mach 1, you probably need to look beyond the interior. It isn’t clear whether the white upholstery is original or whether the interior received “the treatment” during the restoration process. Regardless of which it is, the upholstered surfaces look perfect. What can be seen of the dash and carpet are equally as impressive, while the console is flawless. When he was ordering the car, the original owner didn’t neglect the interior. He chose to equip the vehicle with air conditioning, a Sport Deck rear seat, a tilt wheel, and an AM radio. All of these items remain intact except for the radio. This has been replaced at some point by an AM/FM radio/cassette player. However, with correct radios being readily available, addressing this would be an easy task.
Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. He who hesitates is lost. Think with your head, not your heart. You only live once. Those are just some of the sayings that will be going through the minds of many of our readers when they look at this 1969 Mustang Mach 1. There is no doubt that it is a stunning classic and that it would attract attention wherever it went. It is a fact that values on 1st Generation Mustangs are continuing to increase, so this has the potential to be a sound financial investment. It is also a vehicle that should provide its new owner with an enjoyable classic motoring experience. With those thoughts in mind, to which of those sayings are you most likely to subscribe?
The ’69s were always my favorite year of Mustang history. The first one we ever saw was Parnelli Jone’s Trans Am car at the Sonoma, CA road course and it locked me into being my favorite before I ever got to a showroom. Beautiful car here.
Who remembers when Parnelli Jones sold tires? “I got my bones from Parnelli Jones”.
Let’s try “Jones'”……
Highly-desired, well-respected, popular Mustang. Impressive restoration and excellent condition. One of my favorite colors. Not cheap…. but you’d pay more if it had a 428 under the hood. I hope the new owner brings it out for others to see and enjoy.
Whats up with the fast finds?
It’s a member feature that allows you to see the list of the cars we use to select what to write up from. So many cars come through and we can only write a few so it’s a great way to get the jump on the best deals.
Hood tach not listed in paperwork, & probably installed by an owner, tho could the dealer do it too? – but best not to have a tach in the dash too. lol
IMO Ford made a VERY big mistake not making this body through ’73. Ford itself could have modifed the shock towers to make a later non boss 429 fit.
I wonder if the other steel wheels shown above would look better w/o the hub caps.
I don’t think i ever see a ’69 or ’70 stang with power windows – imagine the outcry if today’s stang only came with crank windows.
I would have a sunroof installed.
My Grandpa Woopsie owned one a dem.
Beautiful car.
Minus the J.C. Whitney inspired front spoiler.
The lead photo shows a Mach 1 wearing Magnum 500 wheels, which were not available on the 69 Mach1, they were an option on the 69 Boss 302/429. Other photo’s show a hood tach installed. A closer look at the lead photo shows that the shaker scoop has a Cobra Jet emblem on it, the subsequent photo’s show the 351 emblem. Looking closer at the hood in the lead photo, is that a hole in the hood where the tach was located? Other than the hood tach issue, gorgeous Mach 1, great color also!
I think the photos are of different cars. Maybe the seller found (“borrowed?”) some stock (or other) photos? Even the stipes are different colors. What’s up with that?
Also, the speed that was listed is wrong, the 131 is probably the >top speed< not the trap speed in the 1/4 mile, which would be around a 100 or so.
“this Mach 1 should not only demolish the ¼ mile in 14.7 seconds, but it should be capable of winding its way to 131mph.” I take that as 131 top speed, not 1/4 mile speed.
Gulfstream Aqua over White is the best color ever offered by Ford !
Agree on the Gulfstream over white. I’d like to see Ford bring this color back on the ‘21 Mustang… a Mach 1 or GT vert in Gulfstream Blue over White leather would be a stunning combo.
Very clean and nice, price should go way higher.
I saw the current price and thought, that’s way to low. Then I saw what engine it has and know why. The price would be double if it has a 428. Still a very nice looking car and worth the price.
Is this 2 different cars? in the pics with the hood tach the car has black stripes. The car in the pics without the tach has gold stripes.
The Mach 1 side stripes are reflective… and they look different under different lighting conditions, but still confusing! I commented earlier regarding the lead photo… with Magnum 500’s and no hood tach. When you look closer at the hood it appears to possibly have a hole where it was mounted, and it sports a Cobra Jet script on the shaker, rather than the 351 shown later. Regardless, the seller should have left that first photo out or at least explain it clearly. No matter how you look at it it is a gorgeous car and color combination.
53 bids but 24 of them are fake or suspect, zero feedback and watch how the scammers are bidding it up. This crap is taking the fun out of it. Beautiful ‘stang. Good luck and stay safe.
Cheers

Beautiful car!
Brings back memories. I bought a ’69 back in August ’71 in this same color but black interior. 428 cobra jet, shaker hood scoop and auto – $2500. Wish I could have kept it.
