Rare Polo Green: 1994 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This 1994 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 is like many of the ones we’ve featured here before, with low miles and bone-stock condition. The added bonus to this example is its color scheme, which is a handsome and rare Polo Green. We often see C4s in a variety of reds, whites, and blacks, so this is a nice change of pace. Now, this example edges on the higher side of the “low mileage” claims, with just over 46,000 – it’s been driven, and that’s not a bad thing. Find the ZR-1 here on eBay with one bid to $23,500 and no reserve.

This isn’t the best listing we’ve seen from a photos standpoint, but what we can see shows us that the paint remains in very good shape overall. I suspect there could be some rock chips on the nose given it’s nearing 50,000, but even if it did, that just makes it an easier decision to actually use the car as intended. I love the later five-spoke wheels that this ZR-1 wears; it makes it look far more modern than the standard C4 wheels found on earlier examples.

I don’t know if anyone else here is a child of the 80s, but there was a popular computer game called Test Drive that my brother and I played religiously. One of the cars you could choose was a ZR-1, and it was far and away my favorite vehicle on the console. What’s hilarious is we all thought that the game was cutting-edge and the graphics were the best in the business; oh, how things have changed. Still, you’d never mistake the ZR-1 interior for anything else, as the familiar styling from the standard-issue C4 wasn’t altered at all for the high-performance model.

The engine, on the other hand, was something special. The Lotus-designed engine featured an aluminum block, four camshafts, and 32 valves! The improved breathing turned the subtle-looking ZR-1 into a supercar. Upgraded brakes, suspension, and a wider body completed the package. The solitary bid of $23,500 is an unusual strategy, but perhaps the potential buyer just wanted to bid their highest number and be done with it. Who knows – they could get lucky!

This is a beautiful ZR-1, I love the green and the 5 spoke ZR-1 wheels. Those wheels are one of a very few sets that I think look best either chrome or polished and clear coated. But I wouldn’t worry about that much, because I’d be driving the wheels right off the car.
These C4 ZR-1’s are legendary for the performance they offered for the price compared to a Testarossa or 911 Turbo, but they haven’t reached the same level of value that their contemporaries have. I’d be interested in how much power the LT5 would make with a Procharger D1-SC and an excellent dyno tune by a shop that specializes in the ZR-1’s. I remember that Mercury Marine made a highly built crate engine based on the LT5 that revs to over 8k and makes over 600 horsepower, I wonder if they still offer them?
These cars were the shiznit when I was a teenager and I’d love to own one someday.

I know a fella that dropped one of those Merc engines in a Z28. He worked at Mercury Marine and they used to sell old test engines.

I bet his Z/28 was an absolute terror on the streets! I’d love to go for a drive in a relatively lightweight Z-car with an LT5 and manual transmission, I’d probably never want to get out of it afterwards.

Another ZR-1 with good mileage and a great color combination. Reading the eBay ad also indicates most of the potential ZR-1 weak spots have been corrected.

I commented on one of these a while back that when you consider what you get for the money, ready to drive, it’s a pretty good deal and was thanked for “stating the obvious.” I’ll repeat it again, primarily because the polo green looks great on these cars. Also, stuff it, whoever you were.

Great color, looks almost like BRG! And it’s a ZR-1 to boot! The later C4 is starting to get some respect and if my wife doesn’t object, I might bid on this one.

I’m bidding on this one. Love the color and the 32 valve is my favorite. Pretty low miles and the unused hard top. Perfect

History report says it was hit in the rear in 2001 Nice looking car but it would get me tickets that I don’t want or need

Absolutely! Cash is King. I could not have placed a bid due to the 1995 LT1 coupe in the garage, but this one really tested my willpower.

Yeah Frank, I agree. The more I see the ZR-1s here, the more I think that I need to sell something to come up with the 25 – 30K to buy one. Certainly would be a ton of fun, and potential investment to boot.

Especially now that I’ve moved from NH to GA. Don’t really need a Bronco anymore, not around here. Hmm…..

This green / tan would have been perfect, and mirrored the color scheme of the ’70 I used to own.
