Although Ford had already gotten a significant head start in the pony car market, GM fought back hard and heavy when it introduced the Chevrolet Camaro as a 1967 model, along with its corporate cousin, the Pontiac Firebird. While numerous desirable F-Body cars from all eras are still out there waiting to be brought back to life, it’s always a treat to find a first-year example, and this 1967 Camaro here on eBay seems like a good candidate to take on as a project. This one is in Las Vegas, Nevada, and can be yours right now for the buy-it-now price of $16,000. However, the seller is also open to a best offer, so submitting a lower amount might prove rewarding.
This one is described as a barn find, with the seller informing us that it’s been in storage for the past 31 years. Before its three-decade hibernation, the exterior was resprayed in a different color, as this Camaro was reportedly finished in Granada Gold when it originally left the Van Nuys assembly plant. The seller states the body is in solid overall condition and is mostly complete on the outside, with the headlight bezels and front bumper as the only missing components. Rust reports are minimal, with some corrosion noted in the lower areas and a few small bubbles on the roof and sail panels.
This Chevy comes from the good old days when a plethora of great engines were available, and this one features a 327, with the good news being that it’s stated to be the original component. On the downside, the small block isn’t currently running, but the crank is said to turn freely, so it might be wise to rebuild the existing engine to keep things numbers-matching. This one is also equipped with a Powerglide automatic, although there’s no information on whether or not it’s still shifting properly.
It will also need quite a bit of attention inside, including a new dash pad, headliner, and at least the driver’s side door panel. A lot of grime can build up on seats when a car sits for more than 30 years, but the upholstery doesn’t look all that bad, so perhaps the vinyl will clean up adequately if this one’s destined to just serve as a nice driver.
