Reasonably priced 911?

right.jpg1

Here’s a more reasonably priced Porsche 911, well perhaps, although it’s defaced with a 959 kit. Does $10,000 seem like a reasonable price to you, given the mad price increases of late? All the seller has to say is “Barn find. Car needs restored. Engine turns”.  I’m thinking all over the country people are saying things like “Hey Pa, ain’t that old car in the barn/mudhole/chicken coup one of them Porsches? I bet we can get a pile of money for it! ” It’s in Detroit and listed here on craigslist for $10,000. (I carefully counted the zeros, there are four) The title sounds like the posting might be for the body kit only, but the ad clearly indicates it’s for the car. I wonder what the full story on this Porsche is and what condition it is really in.

Tons of good information in that ad. I don’t expect a full written history, but the year/mileage/more than one photo, would be nice! WTF people!

It would cost twice as much to reverse the kit and then you are left with a Targa from the least desirable era of 911.

1 photo and a few words, seller will need to work harder sell this.

One picture and a 7 word description. The bar for worst CL listing has been reset. Either that or it’s a case of “But honey, I tried to sell the car…”

No Porsche 959 was ever made with a Targa top since it would increase aero drag and reduce chassis stiffness and strength. The 959 was a twin turbo with 450 HP and 4-wheel drive. The only thing worse than using a Tagra body for a 959 would be to use a cabrio body. I guess this boy racer couldn’t get his hands on a cabrio body, but he still gets my vote for worst judgement on whether, and how, to redo a P-car body.

Ad is down… If you want a Ferrari buy one. Why do this?

Looks like the price was reasonable for at least one person, a targa uses the same windshield as a cabrio, and is easy to convert to a cabrio. It would have been interesting to see what it would go for on Ebay, maybe we’ll see it there in the future.
