Another day, another Starion. This time, we find ourselves looking at a captive import that has more boxes checked on the desirability scale, from the preferred manual gearbox to coming equipped with the optional Sports Handling Package. As you may recall, we featured a Chrysler Conquest the other day that was also in very nice shape but equipped with the automatic gearbox and was not options with SHP. Find this clean Conquest twin here on eBay with bids to $6,490 and no reserve.
This angle of either the Conquest or the Starion is one of the dead-sexiest looks of a 1980s sports car. The chunky flared fenders, the staggered wheels (nine inches on the rear in an SHP vehicle), and the blacked-out taillight panel all scream 80s style. The seller’s car is apparently in excellent cosmetic condition, although he does acknowledge that the respray has some flaws visible to the naked eye.
The black interior pairs nicely with the silver finish and the deeply-sculpted bucket seats were some of the best-looking stock offerings from any other manufacturer at the time. My 1987 BMW 325is came from the factory with excellent sport seats, but this Starion is on another level in terms of how aggressive the bolstering is on these buckets. The seller notes the seats have been redone at some point in the past, and that all of the interior functions – save for the not-cold A/C – are working.
The seller notes that the engine has supposedly been rebuilt but that he has no supporting paperwork to validate the reconstruction. He does note the engine bay is clean without any signs of years’ worth of caked-up dirt and oil, but I’m not sure that’s sufficient evidence to validate that the rebuild happened. The seller notes that even with a fresh engine, he still had to clean the gas tank, replace the injectors, and swap in a new brake master cylinder, which suggests this Starion sat for spell before the current owner tossed it on eBay.

Yes I second, I can’t believe this car is old but it’s a good one, rear wheel drive all the things that put a smile on your face & another vehicle priced about right ! What’s going on here? All we are missing is a C3 big block for a three for of great buys!
The one thing I remember about these back when they first came out was if I removed that back windshield, I could put a pickup bed there
Sold for $11k. Someone got a helluva deal for one of the coolest cars to come out of the 80’s, wish it were me. I’d drive it every single day, weather permitting. I remember when these were new, all the car magazines loved it and the style still looks great, even after 40 years. I’d love to have one.
I have a 1986 Station with 70,000 something miles on it. These are great cars! Very few sold here in the Pacific Northwest.
I start mine once a month and love sitting in it just to blip the throttle…
