When you buy a project like this 1965 Ford Mustang, you will also need to have a vision as to how all of it could come together again one day. Such is the case with this fastback, which used to sport dark green paint and was a C-code Ford (289 cubic inch V8) when it left the factory 61 years ago. The body now resides on a rotisserie, and bits and pieces of it are here and there. Located in Vancouver, Washington, this challenging opportunity is available here on craigslist for $11,000.

The Mustang was the hottest thing going when it hit the streets in April of 1964. At first, only a coupe and a convertible were offered, but a fastback came on board when the official 1965 selling season began in the Fall of ‘64. Ford found 77,000 buyers for the fastback in its first season, and it’s probably the most sought-after body style today. Try to imagine if you can what the seller’s car may have looked like when it was new.

This Mustang was first owned by the seller in 1984, but he resold it to a friend who didn’t take care of it (could be the understatement of the year). We’re told what you see here is straight, but there is rust and pieces like the front fenders are residing nearby. It comes with a new floor that the seller says you might not need. From the photos provided, you’ll be getting a lot of parts to hang back on, but you’ll be missing some of them, no doubt.

Two engines are provided, a 289 V8 with a Toploader 4-speed manual transmission and a 302. We assume both will need to be rebuilt if they’re salvageable. The seller says he has the interior and all the car’s glass except the windshield. The rotisserie comes with the deal, so it would have some resale value of its own when you’re done with it. Have you formulated your vision yet for this Ford? Our thanks to “Curvette” for digging this one up!

There is a twin of this just down the street from me… been there, off the end of the driveway, out in the elements, attached to some home brew scaffolding for years and years… decades maybe… Wonder if that guy is also dreaming of getting $11k….
The seller is delusional. That is all I can contribute to this conversation.
It’s a crazy day on B/F today!
Holly chit!!! Is the seller crazy?? He wants $11K for a big pile of junk parts? Maybe if seller takes off a few zeros from the price someone might buy for parts car.
He can keep the rotisserie
Let’s see, what do I do? Do I spend $11k on a rusty shell, then spend another few grand to ship the whole thing home, then spend $10k or so on repairs, body prep and paint, or do I write a check to Dynacorn International for one of their officially licensed reproduction bodies, for $19,545, which includes crating (shipping and sales tax extra)? Then I have to source just about everything else, including the engine, transmission, rear axle assembly and a dashboard and complete interior to finish the job. Uh, no thank you, I’ll pass on this one!
$11k for a shell and a few other pieces? I wonder what the guy is smoking. I want some.
*Sniff Sniff* “Just take the whole thing!”
This guy’s gotta a lotttttttttt a’ quittin’ in him.
Crack-smoker, nothing more elegant than that.

At $11k, you won’t need a rotisserie to be upside down on this one.
