Rust-Free Original: 1989 Dodge Ramcharger 4×4

One-family-owned, 100% rust-free, and never been modified – other than getting a call from the Powerball Commission, those are some of my favorite things. We’ve seen a boatload of Ramchargers here on Barn Finds lately but this 1989 Dodge Ramcharger appears to be a standout. The seller has it listed here on eBay in Moreno Valley, California, there is no reserve, and the bid price is $12,300.

I’m nothing if not a creature of habit. Actually, most of us are, now that I think about it. I’ve mentioned many times that I’m not a fan of huge wheels and tires on a truck, I just like the look of a tall, skinny wheel and tire combo. Even a size bigger (taller) than the ones on this Ramcharger would look good to me, but big, fat, sticking-outside-the-wheel-wells, heavy-tread off-road tires when you know it’ll just go from one frappuccino drive-thru to the next one, that just seems ridiculous to me. But as someone said recently, it’s still a free country as of now and owners are free to do what they want to do with their vehicles until further notice.

This is a second-generation Ramcharger and they were made from 1981 through 1993 (1996 in Mexico) and this was it for body styles. Nice and simple. The seller says it was owned by one family since new, it has no rust, and is all original. Hagerty is at $18,700 for a #3 good-condition Ramcharger and $25,500 for a #2 excellent one. This auction has a long way to go.

They say that the interior is really the jewel of this truck and it does look amazing inside. I don’t know if I remember seeing fabric seats like this in a Ramcharger before but we must have. The seller hits a grand slam with their photos, inside and out, and even included many underside photos. I don’t see a major flaw inside this 4×4 other than maybe a crack or two in the 35-year-old plastic bits.

The engine is Dodge’s 360-cu.in. OHV V8 with 190 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Power flows through a two-speed transfer case and a three-speed TorqueFlite transmission to the rear wheels or all four as needed. They have included a driving video here on YouTube. They say it’s been stored for a while and could use a tuneup as it sometimes stalls under hard acceleration, but hopefully, that isn’t a big issue. Any thoughts on this nice Ramcharger?

There is just something about this particular Ramcharger that is just speaking out to me. Burgundy or dark red and white goes good together and looks great on this one. I’m 100 percent with Scotty on the white steelies. I’d leave them alone, no trim rings no hub caps they look great with the two tone paint. I like the cloth seats instead of the vinyl too. The condition of this thing is unreal, top to bottom. And the fact it was ordered with the 360 instead of the 318 is scoring some serious points with me too. You would be hard pressed to find another one this nice and a one owner one to boot too. This is a very Nice find Scotty. Great write up!!! Glad you posted it.

I watched the video the mileage never moved.Watch from the beggining and you see he drives but the mileage never moves! So like I point out a lot I highly doubt it’s a 114,000. This is why you can’t pay high prices on older stuff.Yes interior looks great, but overall you must look at the whole package.Buy it 2 weeks later engine blows or transmission. you spent $13,000 or more your gonna be unhappy!

      Hey Nick
Look at the bottom numbers for trip odometer, they are going up as he drives. Obviously less than a mile total.
