In a few days, the 1949 Willys Jeep from the large Georgia collection we’re helping clean out will be on its way home with a new owner. We’re psyched for the result but bummed if you missed out on it. However, there’s another chance to buy one as this survivor-grade 1946 example here on eBay has popped up for sale with a few days left in the auction and the reserve still unmet. 

The seller notes that in his collection of Willys, this one is the most original, and with plans to modify the others, he wants to see this one find a new home before he pilfers parts from it. The body does look quite nice and the simplicity of these rigs ensure there’s not too much to worry about sorting inside the cabin. There are some rust holes in the floor and the seller notes that both channels have rust as well. The wheels were recently repainted and the tires are new.

The rust spots in the bed area are said to be surface-only, and the frame is said to be solid. One of the best features of this flat-fendered Willys is how versatile it is as a project. You can restore it to as-new condition; use it as-is for a farm apparatus; convert it to military-spec as a tribute vehicle; or build it is as an off-roader, fit to tackle the challenging terrain of Moab. Few classics offer so many options for restoration and future use.

By the way, thanks to Barn Finds reader Ikey Heyman for the find. The seller further notes that the Jeep runs, drives, and stops, and that it “…even has the original rear PTO with shifter between the seats for powering implements!” The engine is rumored to have been rebuilt while in the possession for the long-time previous owner, but there’s no paperwork to support that claim.
