The 1974 model year was a tough one for most U.S. automakers. Gasoline was no longer 25 cents per gallon, so buyers began to flock to less expensive modes of transportation. The LeMans, Pontiac’s mid-size offering since 1964, saw sales drop by a third from 1973 when the cars were all-new with Colonnade styling. The seller’s ’74 LeMans Sport Coupe has been owned by the same party for 20 years, and some body repairs are needed. A solid runner, this Pontiac is available in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and here on eBay for $7,400 OBO. Thanks for the Ponco tip, “Curvette”.

Changes to the 1974 LeMans were minor and included things like revived grillwork and beefier rear bumpers. True hardtops had been retired after 1972, so the seller’s Sport Coupe has rather wide C-pillars that may or may not have been a visibility issue. The 350 cubic inch V8 was likely the most popular engine choice, and the seller’s edition is so equipped with 130,000 miles. We’re told it drives well, and there is no mention made of any recent mechanical repairs.

Some of the sheet metal has already been replaced, and we assume that was due to corrosion. Those pieces include the front fenders, hood, and doors. And the rear quarter panels are left for the buyer to address. With these newer body panels, we assume that all or part of the Pontiac’s white paint has been redone. The interior has newer carpeting and one tear in the driver’s side bucket seat that should be attended to.

Some of the chrome is detached from the car, but is in the trunk. Such has front grill assemblies, hood pieces, and interior trim. Mechanically, the LeMans seems to be sound, so maybe the car will only have to visit the body shop in the coming months. As a side note, the GTO muscle car was no longer in the LeMans family, having become a variation of the compact Ventura for its final year.

This vehicle seems just ok for an older Pontiac. Further inspection would be needed for rust issues.
Great body style, it does need some work. Under the hood is rough. Can’t understand the bucket seats with that ridiculous auto on the column.
still rust present under the hood and what’s with the gypsy body work/ filler going with the r/r 1/4 panel? yeah, the missing metal was replace with Bondo.
Decent old collonade leMans. Why are so many baffled by the column selector?
I agree
Console with floor shift was still an optional choice…
My 64 Lemans convertible had buckets and column shift from factory.
Which we have changed out to floor with console since I picked it up in ‘94
Lol
Is that a ’73 only GTO only hood? Did Pont 350 V8s in ’74 get the turbohydramatic 350 or 400 trans?
Yeah, I was wondering that too? I don’t think those came on anything else except the 73 GTO?
I have not seen them on a LeMans Sport Coupe, but have seen them on ‘74 and up LeMans GTs. Could have been an option.
Can anyone please let me know why when I try to upload a photo file that is both within the 8MB limit and is in .jpeg format I STILL get an error telling me the file must be in .jpg format and under 8MB? The coding on this website needs work.
I had a ’75 in bronze. It had plenty of power.
I like the hood best. The front end looks good. Buckets are fine with a column shift: so what
SOLD for $7,400.
