Simply the Best: 1980 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz

Describing any classic as “mint in every way” is bold, but the seller adopts this approach when listing this 1980 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. Finding anything deserving of criticism is almost impossible, despite the listing containing a good selection of high-resolution images. The only thing this Cadillac appears to need is a new home. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Curvette for spotting the Biarritz listed here on eBay in Lakeland, Florida. Bidding currently sits below the reserve at $10,000.

The Eldorado became a staple of Cadillac’s model range in 1953 and, by the time this Biarritz left the line in 1980, the badge had reached its Tenth Generation. Sales remained strong, with 52,685 buyers taking one home during this model year. The first owner ordered this classic in Colonial Yellow with a matching Landau-style vinyl top and the distinctive polished stainless roof panel. The car’s overall appearance is excellent, with no significant paint or panel imperfections. There is a slight color mismatch between the bumper fillers and the surrounding steel, suggesting that a previous owner may have replaced the fillers that are prone to crumbling with age. Rust isn’t an issue, the trim is excellent, and the Caddy retains its original 15″ wire wheel covers.

The Eldorado’s interior is a sea of Cream leather that perfectly complements the exterior paint shade. The pale trim has survived remarkably well for a vehicle with forty-five years of active service under its belt. There are no visible marks or discoloration, and the upholstered surfaces and carpet are free of wear. The dash, pad, and timber look flawless, and this classic features the types of luxury touches buyers rightly expect in a prestige model. The new owner received climate-controlled air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power seats, cruise control, remote mirrors, a leather-wrapped tilt wheel, and an AM/FM radio and cassette player.

Cadillac used its 368ci V8 as the entry-level Eldorado engine in 1980, equipped with digital fuel injection to produce 145hp and 270 ft/lbs of torque. A three-speed automatic transmission fed the power to the road via the front wheels. Unsurprisingly for a car of this type, power assistance for the steering and brakes was standard fare. Refreshingly, the seller doesn’t make outlandish mileage claims for this Caddy. However, if the 67,110 miles showing on the odometer is confirmed as genuine, that figure is well below average. There is no information regarding how this classic runs or drives, but the visual indications are positive. The seller appears approachable, so it may be possible to negotiate an in-person inspection to confirm that all is well with this beauty.

So, is this the best example of the 1980 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz left on the planet? If it isn’t, it must be a strong contender for that crown. Its presentation is first-rate, indicative of a life where this classic has been treated with care and respect. That begs the question of a potential sale price, and it is worth remembering that values have dropped during the past year. Recent sales results suggest that it could nudge $20,000 if two or more people want this car badly enough. However, I believe a lower figure is more likely. What would you pay to own this spotless Cadillac?

This dealer usually has interesting cars for sale, all meticulously detailed. They probably buy Armor All in 55 gallon drums.

A car fit for the Club Champions 🏆 parking spot at the G.C. ⛳️
Probably a carry bag with some Titleist blades in the trunk.

Identical, and I do mean identical, to the Biarritz my best friend’s mom owned when I was a kid. I still vividly recall trips to Gemco on Capitol Expressway in the summer and how my shorts or pants would be damn near stuck to the seat in the hot weather. I cannot ever remember that car being dirty. Probably because my friend’s dad spent every Sunday afternoon after they returned home from church polishing that Caddy. He was so proud to own that car.

You got this and the Burgundy Seville on the same day! I take my hat off to Cadillac for fighting the malaise era with these two beauties. If I had my choice I would go for the Seville though.

    145 HP. That’s pathetic.
Best detailed engine compartment I’ve seen, though .

This was the year and color Eldorado to have! My father listed after this exact car but dragged his feet until late in the ‘ 82 model year. He ended up with a sky blue one with the HT4100 engine😢 That car was a problem from the start and they traded it after a few years😢

Another overpriced offering that was likely picked up at Mecum Kissimmee for 1/2 $ – something this stealership is known for.

Rode to & from school many a time in one exactly like that one, same color and roof panel, back when I was in 8th grade. Haven’t seen one in the wild in quite awhile.
