This Buick Electra 225 has been sitting in storage for a number of years, and the owner has decided that the time has come to move it on. You will find it listed for sale here on eBay. It is located in Hoosick Falls, New York, and comes with a clear title. The opening bidding for the Buick has been set at $2,999.99, but no bids have been received at the time of writing.
The Buick is said to be solid, and it certainly seems to be, with no obvious rust problems. The external trim all seems to be present, and in good condition. The tinted glass also looks good. the paintwork is a bit of a mystery because I can’t tell if there are a multitude of small chips there, or if it is just dirty.
There is a blanket over the front seat, but we’ll take the owner’s word that the interior is in good condition. The rest of the interior certainly does look good, and the dash pad is completely free of cracks. The door trims look good, and the car is fitted with power windows.
The car is fitted with the 401ci “Wildcat 445” V8 engine and 3-speed TH-400 automatic transmission. The car also features power steering. There may be a bit of work to do here, as the car hasn’t been started in 10 years. Having said that, we’ve seen plenty of engines that have sat for considerably longer that have been revived fairly easily, so hopefully, this is another one.
If this Electra 225 I as solid as the owner claims, then it is a pretty good car. The interior looks to be spotless, and even though the engine hasn’t been started in 10 years, it will hopefully kick into life pretty easily. If the marks on the paint are just some form of dirt, then it looks like the car will come up well with a buff and polish. This could be a good project for a first-timer.
I think with a little elbow grease and a little coaxing, this poor man’s Cadillac will hit the road in no time.
I love the big GM sedans of the 1960s; it’s what I learned to drive in, and all I could afford on my meager grocery clerk paycheck during those lean college years.Getting this lady back on her tires again shouldn’t be a big process. I’m watching this one .. no bids yet, so I might jump in
Beautiful 65 Buick. I love the styling of most 60s GM cars, mid size and full. I’ve included a picture of my 65 Oldsmobile 88 which I bought when it was about three years old and I was about 19. Always liked the looks, big car smooth, quiet ride and decent big block performance. I had it painted 69 Chevy “Cocoa Brown”. Loved that color.
The black 65 Buick is beautiful. Wouldn’t take much to bring it back to high quality driver status.
That looks sharp, what’s in front of it?,it looks like a fastback, but I can’t be sure.
That’s my Brother-in-law’s 67 Olds 88. One of his previous cars was a 65 Olds 88, very similar to mine except it was a factory 4 speed car. Olds built a few in 1965 and 1966. Rare as hen’s teeth!
I know this model well, it was my first car! Not this one pictured, one that was tan. Got it in 1973 for $660. Had a funny tick to the engine which I found was a lifter hitting an aluminum rocker. After rebuilding the heads, mine was a rocket! Only car I have owned that I could not open the passenger door from the drivers seat without laying down on the seat. (I am 6’2″)
Another picture of a 66 factory 4 speed car.
Another picture of a 66 factory 4 speed car.
Big, beautiful, fast, and comfortable.
Sweet looking 65 Buick Electra 225. I hope whoever purchases it is able to fix it up enough to be able to enjoy it and drive it. My favourite years for the Electra 225 are 1963, 1964, and 1965. :)
We used to refer to these as a ” Deuce and a half” – partly because they seemed as big as the military 6 wheel drive 2 1/2 ton trucks when compared to a ’65 GTO or Chevelle…. definitely the American idea of “luxury” at the time , they seem to be almost totally isolated from the road as they float along. The term “Land Yacht” definitely fits.
I agree. I’m too young to remember the early 60s Buicks. But I’ve seen my share of Big Buicks of the 60s and 70s. That’s when cars were awesome! :)
It would be worth the money if it was a 2 door.no one wants a 4 door in that model.
Are you sure? I’d buy a 4 door Electra 225 if I could find one in decent condition. :)
If I had the room and the time I’d be all over it. It’s when GM was making cars instead of junk.
I agree. More than I can say for today’s cars.
Just mechanics and go !
My 66 Buick LeSabre. These are great cars but parts are not real easy to find.
