Over the last couple of years I have passed on a handful of TR3s. I’ve regretted it in most cases because prices just seem to keep climbing. As higher-end British sports cars such as the Big Healeys get further out of reach for the normal guy, mid-range cars like the powerful TR3 start to look very appealing. This particular one may not look very appealing right now, but I have a feeling that it could with a little work. The engine runs on an external tank and the seller has had the body media blasted so you can see what’s going on. Some body filler is evident, but it looks pretty straight overall. Small mouth TR3s are hard to come by and if bidding doesn’t go much higher, this one could end up being a bargain. Find it here on eBay where bidding is currently at $5k with no reserve and only a couple of hours left!

Great find for someone. It’s good to see cars like this get sold, and the new owner doesn’t have to rob a bank to do so. I think this was the last year for the “small mouth elbow scrapers”. Personally, I never cared for these, styling wise. Much more of a TR-4 or 6 person, but I’ll bet these were a lot of fun and good cars too.
