Spotless Interior: 1969 Ford Galaxie 500

While most enthusiasts won’t hesitate to tackle panel or paint repairs, a smaller number harbor the desire to perform an interior retrim. The new owner of this 1969 Ford Galaxie 500 won’t face that decision, because the inside of this classic is almost flawless. Factor in its lack of rust and the 390ci V8 under the hood, and it looks like a real winner. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Curvette for spotting the Galaxie listed here on Craigslist in Vancouver, Washington. All that stands between you and driving away in this gem is the seller’s $9,500 asking price.

Ford introduced an updated Galaxie for the 1969 model year, and it would be fair to describe the styling as largely evolutionary. The company saw no reason to reinvent the wheel in the face of strong sales success. This 1969 example is a survivor that was ordered by its first owner in Wimbledon White. The seller doesn’t mention a restoration history, and close inspection reveals a selection of minor paint blemishes. However, it still shines nicely, and with no major panel shortcomings, its presentation is comfortably acceptable for a driver-grade classic. The best news for buyers is the seller’s claim that the vehicle is rust-free. Lower rear quarter panels are particularly prone to problems, but this Ford has avoided those issues. The trim is in good condition, and the glass is clear.

Although there is no mention in the listing of restoration, the interior shots suggest that this Galaxie may have received a retrim at some point. The upholstered surfaces look almost perfect, with only some slight visible wrinkles on the lower door trims and one in the dash pad. The back seat looks to have never seen action, and the carpet is in as-new condition. I did notice that a couple of the window regulators are missing their knobs, but if that is as bad as it gets, addressing those shortcomings will be relatively cheap and easy. It isn’t just a pretty face, with the seller confirming that everything works as it should.

Ford attempted to cater to all tastes when compiling the available engines for the 1969 Galaxie range. Buyers on a limited budget could select the 240ci six that placed 150hp at the driver’s disposal. This car’s first owner selected the mid-range 390ci V8 that produced, according to that year’s Sales Brochure, 265hp. Shifting duties fall to a three-speed automatic transmission, with this gem also featuring power assistance for the steering and the front disc brakes. That combination will allow the vehicle to cope admirably with city traffic, while cruising at 70 on the open road shouldn’t break a sweat. Potential buyers seeking a classic that will provide immediate enjoyment will welcome the news that this Ford runs and drives perfectly. Do you fancy a vacation? Well, flying to beautiful Vancouver and driving home in this Galaxie could be a wonderful alternative.

Hypothetically, you open your garage door to find this 1969 Ford Galaxie 500 occupying that space. What do you do? Its presentation is tidy for a survivor-grade vehicle, and with no rust issues, preservation would be a viable option. However, some of you may feel that with the interior looking so impressive, its exterior should continue that theme. A cosmetic restoration would be easy and relatively cheap, and would guarantee that this Galaxie drew nothing but positive comments wherever it goes. I don’t know which approach I would choose, but do you?

That is one beautiful car. Nice work as always, Adam, and nice find, Curvette! In 2025 dollars, $10,000 could be the new “Find a nice $5,000 car” price, and this would be on my list.

Sharp car. That blue interior is very nice, though this car with buckets and the horseshoe shifter would be even more cool. I like the “simulated ‘mag’ wheel covers” (that’s what they were called).

Like Scotty says, $10,000 seems to be a typical price point nowadays.

There’s something about a white car with a blue interior that gets to me. It was my Grandpas favorite color combo and almost every new Chevy he bought was that color. This Galaxy is beautiful. And as Bob already pointed out, I like those wheel covers. That 390 is a great engine in a full size Ford like this. Great write up Adam and very nice find Curvette!!! Thank you.

Seems like a very fair asking price. It’s amazing how the Pacific Northwest preserves vehicle’s . β€˜69 Fords were not in this good of condition by β€˜71 in the Northeast.

There have been so many nice vehicles from the Pacific Northwest featured in BF lately that I should consider relocating. If this car was about two thousand miles closer I would be heading there right now with cash in hand. GLWTS.

The styling of this car is fantastic, from the clean and simple front end to the rear window with long buttresses almost like a larger version of the first C3 corvettes. The color combination is perfect and the fake mags that I hated as a teenager now look pretty cool to me. I think the price is very reasonable for this car.

Henry Ford was a one color man, as am I. However, I like all colors as long as they are white. Beautiful car.

Noticed that too. Early Fords looked good with their own air cleaner.
