Finding a rust-free 1960s classic that is ready to be driven and enjoy could never be considered to be a bad thing. That’s what the next owner could be scoring when they buy this 1963 Buick Wildcat Hardtop. It features impressive presentation, a clean and classy interior, and what appears to be a healthy V8 under the hood. If that sounds like a winning combination, then you will find the Buick located in Marysville, Washington, and listed for sale here on eBay. The BIN for the Wildcat has been set at $13,850. A combination of all of these factors means that there are currently 177 people who are watching the listing. I have to take the opportunity to say thank you to Barn Finder local_sheriff for referring this black beauty to us.
The Wildcat cuts a menacing figure finished in Regal Black. The paint has a nice consistency to it, and the body appears to be free of significant dings or dents. What it would also seem to be free of are any rust issues. The photos show a car that looks to be solid and clean. The owner does admit that the vehicle has received a repaint at some point, but it isn’t clear when this occurred. The external trim and chrome appear to be in good condition, while the Buick also features a couple of nice optional extras. The first and most obvious of these is the wheels, which were an option that quite a few buyers chose in preference to the standard wheels and hubcaps. The Wildcat also features the optional cornering lights fitted to the front fenders.
If there was one thing that Buick knew how to do exceptionally well during this era, it was to produce an interior that made the vehicle’s occupants feel special. A perfect example of this theory can be found by looking inside a Riviera. The Wildcat continues this theme, and this interior also presents extremely well. White upholstery can be a nightmare to maintain, but this looks really good. It does show some mild discoloring in some spots, but overall, it still presents well. Bucket seats, a console with a factory tachometer, and acres of silver highlights all combine to create an interior that screams “class.” The lenses on the gauges are starting to show some cracking, but the rest of the dash looks to be close to perfect. There are no signs of any splits or tears in the upholstery, the carpet seems to be free of any significant wear or fading, while the headliner also looks to be in good condition. The interior appears to be completely original, and would also seem to have no immediate needs.
There are no photos provided of the engine, which is extremely frustrating when you consider the fact that the vehicle is being offered for sale by a dealer. What we know is that the Wildcat comes equipped with a 401ci V8, which is backed by an automatic transmission. The Buick also features a dual exhaust, but we don’t know whether it features either power steering or power brakes. This 401 should be good for a healthy 325hp, but this is a fact that has managed to successfully confuse the seller. In a bid to locate some engine photos, I traced the car to their own website. On there, they describe the engine as producing 455hp. Um, I don’t think so. What it produces is 445lb/ft of torque, which is what gives the engine its “Wildcat 445” designation. I suspect that the seller might be confused on that front. What he does say is that the Buick runs and drives nicely, with the steering sitting nicely on center, and the brakes stopping the car straight and true. He also says that the 401 doesn’t produce any smoke or odd noises.
On face value, this 1963 Buick Wildcat is a stunning looking car that would seem to need little more than a dedicated new owner to continue to lavish it with care and attention. This is a car that really has me torn because it is one that I like very much. The lack of engine photos allied with the seeming confusion over engine specifications is something that raises some concerns for me, particularly given the fact that this confusion is coming from a dealer. However, if a personal inspection reveals that this car is sound and completely above board, then it does become a very interesting proposition. Values on the ’63 Wildcat 2-Door Hardtop have shown some pretty healthy increases over the past 3-years. What we are talking about here is an improvement in the region of around 40%, regardless of condition. That means that it could potentially be a very good buy at the asking price.
Whoa, mama, another sweetheart. We never saw cars like this, they were always a LeSabre 4 door or a wagon, these were my favorite big Buicks. Can you imagine trying to decide between this or an Olds Starfire or any “gentlemen cruiser” of the early 60’s? Without going the Caddy route, this was as nice as it got. Beautiful car here, if it was only a nicer color, yet the chrome accents it well.
Looks like a nice car. Could be a decent deal if the body hasn’t been piece together.
I had eyes on that car, for months.. he startet out with i think it was $20,000, and down in steps to this price. Beautyfull car.. if it goes much longer down, i grap it..
At this price level I don’t think you should wait too long – throw the guy an offer and tell us how it went. IMHO worth every penny if you want a luxurious alternative to an Impala
I know Buicks and I know Wildcats ….. this is a steal …. worth all of 20 grand and more
Adam, there are a bunch of additional photo’s including the engine, the first sentence is a hyperlink to them. Overall a nice driver!
That’s a good-looking Buick! The black over white is very sharp and the overall condition seems very good. Probably a good deal but I’d want to see some photos of the engine bay; something that should have been provided by the seller. I’m surprised it hasn’t sold so I’m wondering if there’s something in the description the seller is omitting. I’d want to take a close look at this Buick before I’d pull the trigger.
First words under the description: ” Click here for additional photos and videos” There are many additional photo’s available.
Thanks, John. There are plenty of pictures of the engine bay and the interior in the folders shown at the top of the page after you click on the link you noted. While I did open that link, I didn’t notice the extra folders at the top of the page at first. Under the hood presents very well, I was impressed.
Nothing shows better than black and chrome when it’s clean. I think I’m in love!
The thing that really speaks to me is the fact that you just don’t see these everyday. I personally like the fact that its rare. When was the last time any of you saw one of these at a show or cruising down the road. Great car and GLWTS.
Gorgeous.
Looks ready to cruise to cars and coffee.
She’s a beaut. WildCat, gotta be one of the best name for a car of all time… Go Chiefs.
Really sweet looking car and the black and white color scheme goes good on the interior!! The exterior looks flawless!! This is a car you could get in and drive!! The only thing I would think of changing would be a disc brake conversion to stop better!! It would be something that could always be changed back to keep the car original!!!
Absolutely right. Making it stop better can prolong it’s life. It could still be cool to add the service package dual quads and aluminum valve covers. That would still be factory.
love it! funny thing when I was dating in teenybopper years the boyfriends drove BUICKS….I had good taste in cars but not so much with lousy boyfriends.
Man I had a 64 Wildcat convertible sky blue white top dark blue interior in high school, and like I am sure as so many others on here I wish I still had it one of the best cars I ever had if we only new then what we know now.
Gone

Sweet looking car. I’ve always loved Buicks of 1963 and 64. My favourites are the 1963 LeSabre, the Wildcat, and the Electra 225. I’ve not seen one in this pristine condition. I hope this car goes to a good owner, one who will enjoy the car and care for it. :)
Gone yes. But I do not think it sold.
These Buicks are nice but even good ones are ñot bringing any dollars.
My buddy has a 67 Wildcat Convert that his Dad bought new. Has 430 in it. No one is interested.
Great buy …well done …. now join the Buick Club of America and see other great Wildcats first hand ( http://www.buickclub.org )
What a beautiful car this is. Seems like a really good price too. I bet it will be gone soon.
Hello guys….. it never sold
