Storage Unit Find: 1968 Chevrolet Corvette

The third generation of America’s Sports Car, the Chevrolet Corvette, arrived on the scene in 1968. Fashioned after the Mako Shark concept car, the Corvette looked nothing like it had before, and the C3 ‘Vettes were so popular that the design stuck around through 1982. The seller offers a 1968 Corvette coupe finished in red but with almost no details, leading us to believe it’s a roller (best case). Located in a storage unit in Woodinville, Washington, this former muscle car is available here on eBay for $7,500 OBO.

Corvette production was up by 25% to 28,566 units in 1968. The 300 hp, 327 cubic inch V8 was still standard equipment, and an assortment of 427s were available for the choosing. We don’t know how this Corvette is/was equipped because the seller only provides four words of description: “needs TLC, just body.” This does nothing to help sell the car, and the photos provided aren’t of a lot of help either.

We have to assume this is either a roller or a shell with an interior that is incomplete (no dashboard). The seller provides two photos of a sticker and an ancient registration that don’t add anything to the equation. The car does have black California plates, suggesting it’s been in-op for years or even decades. It has or once had a manual transmission.

If what you see is what you get, you will spend a fortune finding parts. 68’s are the first of the 3rd generation, and have many unique, 1 year only parts. Seems to be a pretty expensive parts car to me.

Dude is either a knucklehead or doesn’t want to sell the car. Wife probably told him to get rid of it.

Lousy ad, might be worth a call if it’s someone’s dream car, but the seller needs to provide a lot more information including pictures in order for potential buyers to consider.
