From the ever-popular “Super Dirt Cheap” department here at Barn Finds, comes this 1963 Chevy Corvair project. With an asking price of just $500, it’s sure to go quick. It’s located in Alton, Illinois, and can be found here on craigslist.

As you can expect for a car in this price class, it’s not without it’s problems. It has no title, and that’s either a big problem or a minor inconvenience depending on where you live or who you know.

The other problem is that it’s the typical engine-in-trunk type of project car. Hmmn…that didn’t come out quite right, because the trunk is where the engine belongs in this case. Let’s just say the seller says the engine is not installed, but is included.

He says the body and interior are original, and appear to be in very presentable condition, again given the price. It does have collision damage, shown best in the first photo above, which is a problem, but not insurmountable. Beautiful black inside and out, and said to have a 4-speed transmission, this car is worth saving.

If you like your cars the way you like your women…no, wait, that’s not right either. If you like your car projects on the low-budget side, and aren’t afraid of some sweat equity, this might be for you. My mythical big barn full of cars wouldn’t contain a whole lot of Corvairs, but I’m sure I’d make room for this one. What do you think of it?

What I see is a “Flagged” notation, not an indication that it is sold.
A time-honored Craigslist user method of eliminating potential other buyers. :-/

I like Corvairs but the unibody construction makes the Corvair’s front fender repair much more complicated then just a bolt on fender replacement.

      Not with that little damage.

That means it has the improved rear suspension.

I would have bought this in a heart’s beat.
