UPDATE – To celebrate Barn Finds’ 10th Anniversary, we are taking a look back at some of the top posts over the years. There were a ton of impressive finds in 2011, but this trio of exotics was possibly the most exciting to see! While there were some major questions about the find it’s not every day that you find two dusty Ferraris and a Maserati parked in a storage unit.

FROM 8/1/2011 –  There are few things we dream of more than finding a classic Ferrari parked in a barn. Well someone in Dallas Texas didn’t find just one Ferrari parked in a barn, but two Ferraris and a Maserati parked in a barn (well a storage unit, but close enough). All three cars are in pristine condition and are scheduled to cross the Mecum auction block in Monterey California in a few weeks.

1972 Ferrari 365 Gtb4 Daytona Front Corner

The original owner of all three cars parked them in this storage unit close to 40 years ago and that’s where they have set until just recently. They are all very low mileage cars and were just in need of a good cleaning and a tune up. We wish we could have been the lucky individuals to have found these cars.

1977 Maserati Bora Front Corner

The storage unit housed this 1977 Maserati Bora Coupe (which only has 987 miles on it), a 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS (with 2,700 miles), and a beautiful 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona (which has 9,700 miles on it). After being pulled from this storage unit each car has been cleaned and tuned in preparation for the upcoming auction.

We are going to be at this auction to bring you more photos and details of the sale. We are also very excited to announce that we will be attending as many events as possible this year in Monterey. Stay tuned for coverage of these events that you will not find anywhere else.

Italian Barn Finds

Please let us know if anyone from the site will be in Monterey this August. We will be out on the hunt for the very best barn finds and survivor cars. Here is one last image to dream about until tomorrow.

The finds are cool, but I am always intrigued by the story of discovery. Like in this case, what in storage all these years, how found and who now selling, the owners, the seller, etc. And the picture in front of the barn is apparently just a staged photo for fun, but they are still dusty what was point of that photo shoot?

These 3 are notorious. There is a significant back story to this and it is somewhat dubious.

This doesn’t smell right….. the perfect dust on each car….. the way they’re on display in front of the barn…..Where are the flat tires and the rodent damage? If they were in a storage space, why the barn in the photo? Sounds like this is a collector who has some fine cars, but wants to create more interest in the sale with a viral story.

just cause it was parked for years doesnt mean its going to have flat tires and rodent damage, my Chevelle was parked for 8 year, it dosent have either, ik a guy who has a Plymouth fury (4-door slant 6 car) it was his dad’s and his dad said one it hit 300,000 miles he was gonna park it and sure enough he did, been sitting for about 25 years if not more no rodent damage and tires still hold air, the car looks brand new except where the driver sits and it not even that bad, its in a barn

Dubious indeed. The storage is metal but the pics in front of the wooden barn? What about the ’57 Chevy and Lincoln Mark IV in the background?

Lots of discussion on the web about these three cars. They were listed on eBay a few times… will be interesting to see what happens at Mecum. Very notorious.

We actually saw all these cars while in Monterey and they looked like the real deal to us. The story is hard to believe and the barn photos were staged, but this was still quite a find!

In 1990 I was traveling around southern California and east of San Diego 100 miles. This is a desert area and with a sandy loom soil. Along this highwaay south of I-8 I found an old barn and could see 5 Lincoln Mark I’s inside, two were 1942’s and three were 1941’s also a 1955 T bird was with them. I would travel throughthis area about once a month for a couple of years. Always wanted to be able to stop and find out about the cars. I now work for myself and now do take the time to stop. I found a 1957 Cadillac Seville sitting outside a building with 30 years of dirt on it. I am now working ontrying to obtainthis car but it might be a bit abovemy head. Color is mist green andhas the sabre wheels and orginal white tires. This is in the California desert area also
