With warm weather fast approaching, the lure of time behind the wheel of a classic convertible with the wind in your hair may be impossible to resist. If so, that begs the question of which classic you might choose. If you haven’t decided, maybe this 1970 Corvette Convertible could be the ideal candidate. It isn’t perfect, but it is a tidy and solid survivor that needs a new home. Located in Auburn, Washington, you will find the Corvette listed for sale here on eBay. Spirited bidding has pushed the price beyond the reserve to $25,019, with more than three days left in this auction.
Some vehicles are blessed with the “wow” factor, and any C3 Corvette wearing Monza Red paint can lay claim to that attribute. The Corvette is a boldly-styled car that deserves to wear a bold paint color, and when you look at our feature car, the styling and shade combine perfectly to produce a stunning classic that can’t help but garner attention. The paint shines beautifully, but the seller is candid about it having a few flaws. There are a few chips and cracks and some checking on the rear deck. Nothing requires immediate attention, and a reputable paint shop may be able to address the shortcomings without the buyer resorting to a complete repaint. Underside shots supplied by the seller reveal a frame with little more than the occasional spot of surface corrosion. There is no evidence of rust or prior accident damage. The chrome and trim look excellent for a survivor-grade car, with the luggage rack a practical addition. The White soft-top is as impressive as the rest of the exterior, while a new hardtop should offer additional protection if the weather turns cold. The distinctive Rally wheels, the center caps, and the trim rings are in as-new condition. With flawless glass, it appears this Convertible has no immediate cosmetic needs.
The original owner ordered this Corvette equipped with the L46 version of the 350ci small-block V8 that produced 350hp in its prime. They also selected a four-speed manual transmission, power steering, and power brakes. Adding $158 to the Corvette’s sticker price, the L46 represented good value for money. If the owner pointed the Convertible at a ¼ mile, the journey would be a memory in 14.1 seconds. The supplied photos reveal that this small-block wears aftermarket exhaust headers with the potential to unlock a few extra horses. That could also take a small bite out of that ¼-mile ET if that proves the case. The owner states that the Corvette runs and drives beautifully, and there is evidence to support this. The engine bay presentation is hard to fault, but this YouTube video probably seals the deal. It provides a walk-around and allows us to hear that 350 in action. It sounds as crisp and clean as you could ever hope to find.
The overall tidy impression continues when we survey this Corvette’s interior. The Black upholstery presents well, while the same is true of the carpet and plastic. There is no evidence of the types of issues that may signal abuse or long-term exposure to UV rays, and any aftermarket additions are the type that the new owner could reverse with little effort. The wheel wears a wrap, while the factory radio has made way for a radio/cassette player. The installation quality is impressive, but the installer hasn’t cut anything to accommodate the change. They have fitted custom boxes behind the seats to house speakers, but there are no further modifications.
While I have always admitted a leaning towards any classic wearing a Blue-Oval badge, I would find a chrome-bumper C3 Corvette difficult to resist if my bank account looked healthier. They have a genuine presence that is difficult to beat, and they are probably more popular today than at any point in history. The bidding on this ‘Vette demonstrates that with nine potential buyers duking it out by submitting thirty-five bids. With plenty of time left on the auction, there’s a good chance that the action will intensify as the clock winds down. Are you going to be an interested spectator, or are you tempted to drop a bid or two to try your luck? If you do, I hope that you’re successful.
This model has everything I could ever want in a Corvette. Beautiful car!
Nice car at a reasonable price.
I’d love this car but for one thing; no air conditioning. I’ll have to pass.
Perfect summer driver. Who needs air conditioning? Not me. I live in the mountains.
Cool. A rich man’s Opel GT.
Many convertibles (and performance cars as well) did not have AC in the 60’s and early 70’s. My 74 Corvette convertible did not have air and I never thought much about it at the time, top was down most all the time.
Nice looking car here.
If numbers matching 350/350 drivetrain (not specifically mentioned that I could see), then this is a bargain at the current 25K.
The shots of the undercarriage are much appreciated.
