Yes, this is an uber collectible 1969 Pontiac GTO “Judge”. No, you probably wouldn’t know that at first glance. Rough around the edges would a kind description but there’s enough going on here that it’s hard to look away. It just makes you wonder, “How’d all of this happen?” Let’s see if we can figure it out. This Judge is holding court in East Greenbush, New York and is available, here on eBay for a current bid of $5,500 with one bid tendered so far.
Originally finished in a very distinctive shade known as “Carousel Red” (which is more orange than red), there is some, but little evidence of that born-with hue. Somewhere along the line, a previous owner decided that can’t-miss-it yellow would be a nice look so the original finish and the Judge-specific stripes and decals were banished. Further along the line, the Pontiac “beak” front end and the Judge specific deck-lid spoiler got the heave-ho too. This car has been off the road since ’89 and has been sitting for twenty-five years in a backyard. The seller adds, “This car will need a complete restoration which will involve at a minimum, fenders, 1/4’s, floors, radiator support, hood, decklid…”
And that’s not the only thing it needs as its 366 gross HP, 400 CI V8 “Ram Air III” engine has been extradited to some other place – the jury’s out on what to replace it with. Interestingly, the PHS documentation claims that this GTO had an automatic transmission originally but was later converted to a four-speed manual gearbox. That too has been sentenced to some far-off place but the clutch pedal assembly is still in place. I like how a random brake caliper has managed to cinch up on a wayward heater hose!
That aforementioned pedal assembly and the steering wheel are about all that’s left inside the courtroom. There is a parchment rear seat backrest, so the court hasn’t been completely cleared but it’s not far from it. The seller mentions that during its backyard sentence, this GTO was, “stripped of all of its Judge components“. Those aren’t the only things that were stripped away – there’s a lot of other stuff that’s missing.
So, trying not to be judgemental is difficult in this case. I’m not sure that it can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that this Judge can be effectively restored. It would probably be best to cop a plea and just move on but some may want to appeal that decision. What do you think, put this subject on the stand and see if you can get it to sing, or just assume that it will take the 5th and go looking for one with a more believable testimony?
It’s gone. Needs literally everything. Whoever buys it is buying the VIN, Trim Tag, & PHS documentation, nothing more and will re-body a Pontiac LeMans into Judge.
Agreed, somebody is about to commit pergury via a rebody. You need literally everything for this build.
Wow. This is the cheapest Judge I’ve even seen but not the worst condition. A friend of mine last year found 2 1970 carcasses in a junkyard that were crashed, totaled and stripped leaving just the shell (no frame) and he paid $6500 a piece. I though $6500 on a shell was a fair price for a Judge. This is a lot more car for less money.
junk is junk as my Dad used to say. Keep 50k as a resto start. You will need more but as automotive quicksand goes the skys the limit. It does have a nice tailight.
the movie Christine, ya cant polish a Turd…………time for metal recycle, crush it
With the important Judge components gone and given the condition of this carcass, there would be little to no return on your investment with this one. Just noticed that it’s wearing ’69 LeMans tail lamp lenses, not the correct horizontally trimmed GTO lenses.
You’d have to mental to buy this Judge, unless you can cop an insanity plea !
600 sounds more realistic whoever did this to this poor car should be hung nothing left here
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣someone is a FOOL
