A major box-checker and a contender for Barn Finds’ best photos of 2025, this beautiful 1997 Ford F-350 XLT 4×4 Diesel is one cool truck – well done on the photos, seller! It’s nice to see someone care enough to take the time to get really nice photos of a vehicle they have for sale, but it would be hard to make this truck look bad even with bad photos. They have it listed here on eBay in Middleboro, Massachusetts, the bid price is $26,000, and the reserve hasn’t been met yet.
I mean, come on, who does this? The seller hit a grand slam with these interesting and fantastic photos. I apologize for saying so much about the photos but we’ve seen thousands of listings here at Barn Finds and it’s rare to come across one like this, so when they do show up, they really stand out. You already know the truck itself will be a grand slam just by the quality of the photos, and it is.
Ok, back to the truck, one I call a box-checker as it’s loaded with so many features. I would never need a one-ton pickup for anything, a half-ton would be more than enough for me, but I wouldn’t look the other way if this were the only truck for sale in my area and I needed one asap. The body appears perfect, and the seller has provided underside photos and it’s not surprising that it looks like a 9+ under there. They say this truck has never been driven in the winter and there’s no rust!
Speaking of outstanding, a red interior is always my first choice and this one doesn’t disappoint. Sure, the driver’s seat isn’t quite as firm as it was when it was younger, but neither are any of ours. They say that the interior has been treated to Dynomat, so that’s another bonus. One thing this truck doesn’t have is a five-speed manual, but if that’s all there is to gripe about, that isn’t too bad.
The engine is the top choice, Ford’s 7.2-liter Power-Stroke turbo-diesel V8 with 225 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. Coal-rolling through the four-speed automatic and transfer case, this truck is said to run and drive great. It was a Southern truck until three years ago, according to the seller. I love this truck, who’s with me?
Was expecting to see a 5sp stick, considering the 1ton chasis and all business, regular cab configuration Scotty. Real Tallboy Ford.
Agreed. That was a major let down to see an automatic in this. My limited experience with 7.3 and other diesels is that automatics might be OK for true work trucks, but for all around use they really need a manual transmission to be enjoyable.
Same here, Stan and JMB#7, I always look for a manual. And finally a vehicle high enough for 6′-5″ tallboy Scotty G!
This is a nice one Scotty for sure. I think during these years, you were better off with the stick than the automatic. I always the International 7.3 was a great engine.
Love it. 7.3 powerstroke correct?
also made by International
Very nice truck, and I really like the regular cab. I recently sold my 97 Crew Cab that looked like it could have been the big brother to this truck. I owned it for about 24 years and sold it for more than I paid for it. I loved that truck but at almost 70 it was getting harder to climb up in it. Found a late model Crew Cab Tundra with low mileage, paid cash for it, paid taxes on it, and still banked a few bucks. These 97 Fords, being the last year of that body style are selling for big bucks down here in Texas. It looks like the owner of this truck is going to do well also, I see the bid is over 30K now.
I own the same truck with a 460 gas engine that I purchased in 1998 . It just turned 40,000 miles and is in showroom condition. Wouldn’t trade it for the world.
We just finished. And are still in, a Cold spell, and my 1992 diesel 7.3 IDI needs to be plugged in. My 2011deisel 6.7 fires up well, but is newer and better electronics. I’ve had many 460 and 351 gas that would always start. Will probably trade the IDI when I find a gas 89-97. This truck above is a beauty.
Auction update: the bid is over $37,000 and the reserve is off with less than a day to go!
Over 37k for regular cab..almost 30yr old Ford pickup. Wow.
Thx for the update Scotty.
Auction update: this rig sold for $37,700.
