Mach 1 Mustangs are hot right now. Are they hot enough to make this rust bucket a viable project though? The seller has owned the car since the eighties and there are some noteworthy options. They have finally decided it would be better it go to someone who will do something with it rather than let it sit longer. Take a closer look and let us know what you think. It’s listed here on craigslist out of Berlin, New Jersey for $19,500.

We’ve all had those cars that were hard to let go of. It might have been your first car or a project you scored a great deal on. It can be hard to say goodbye. I’m sure this Mustang holds a lot of memories or at least a lot of dreams of what it could become. As it sits, there’s rust in floors and some corrosion just about everywhere. That 4-speed shifter is nice sight but hopefully there’s some more good news under the hood.

Well, it’s not a big block but at least that’s the four-barrel version of the 351 V8. It was originally good for about 300 horsepower, which was about 50 more than the base engine, so that’s not bad at all. Some may even prefer this engine over some of the bigger offerings. No mention is made of the engine’s condition so you might want to budget for a full rebuild. Apparently, it’s connected to a wide ratio transmission and Traction-lok 3.00:1 rear end. Interesting gear selection. Perhaps someone was planning on lots of highway driving?

As cool as the shadowy trailer find photos are, it does make it hard to tell what’s really going on here. Hopefully, the body isn’t too bad and can be salvaged. If you want to restore it back to original specification, you’d better like gold. According the Marti report it left the factory with metallic gold paint and a ginger interior. A black hood stripe, air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, tach, and a console rounded out the option list. What do you think? Is this pony car worth the effort or should it be put out to pasture?

Kinda cooked for 20k…
