Turquoise Rarity: 1990 Chevrolet Corvette

We rarely use the word “stunning” when describing C4-era Corvettes, but this 1990 convertible sporting sharp Turquoise Metallic paint with a matching hardtop and over camel leather makes for a stunning combination. While it’s more or less a driver, this Corvette marks one of the rare opportunities where you can pay a modest sum for a very unique car. Find this Chevrolet Corvette convertible listed here on eBay with just 48,000 original miles and a few minor issues for only $11,000.

In other enthusiast car segments, if you were to identify a model produced in a special color with a matching hardtop, you would likely be paying a significant premium to own said vehicle. In Porsche and BMW land, those colors, sometimes referred to as “Individual” or “Paint to Sample”, cost ridiculous amounts of money if shown on the right model, like an M3 or a 911. However, you can buy a Corvette in a limited-production shade for a pittance. While it may not have been a special order, this is certainly a color you don’t see every day – especially with the matching hardtop.

It gets even better inside the car. You were expecting a black leather interior, weren’t you? Not so fast: this one was ordered with a very pretty camel-colored interior, which looks incredible with the teal paint job. It also helps that the interior is in excellent condition for a driver-quality car. If it were a manual transmission example, the price would likely be significantly higher, so be sure to thank the slushbox for the discount. The seller reports that the airbag light is stuck on, which is typical of these early 90s vehicles.

Under the hood is the reliable and powerful L98 V8. The engine bay is clean and unmodified. The seller doesn’t say much about the running condition other than noting the brakes are a bit crusty from sitting. In 1990, the Corvette made a respectable 250 hp and 345 lb-ft of torque, more than enough to get down the road with authority. The radio works, the A/C is cold, and it looks absolutely magnificent with this paint scheme and the matching hardtop. What’s not to like?

Beautiful color. Except one of the hardest cars to get in and out of. Beats the hell out of depressing mud grey you see everywhere now.

Nice Jeff, Love the colors in and out! I agree it is unique and at a reasonable price. I would take this C4 any day over the same old black, red, and white C4’s.

Well I like the color scheme but the automatic doesn’t speak to me. In my experience the best way to get in and out of these Corvettes is to lift your legs after you plunk your buttocks into the seat and do a 90 degree swing to the right. Think of it as a chair yoga workout. Personally, I think these C4s are one of the better deals in the collector car hobby. It’s hard to find more performance for the buck. I think price wise they have about bottomed out. If I had room indoors I’d probably be searching around now.

I agree with you on the sitting technique, i had a white 89 with white top and red interior, bought in non running because of the great colors, had never driven a c4 and was pleasantly surprised , smooth seats and handling but the lack of trunk got to me !
This one looks great even if i hate the camel interior

(more performance for the buck) is a bit of an oxymoron when talking about a C4 automatic.
While I don’t particularly dislike the color, I certainly don’t believe that it adds to value all that much,
That being said, as a C4 automatic it’s still overpriced, but probably not terribly overpriced.
