Two Car Deal! 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle and SS396

There’s no faster way to become a ’66 Chevelle collector that buying two at the same time! This pair of aces in Rushville, New York could enrich the hand of the gambler willing to take on two cars for a single price. Two 1966 Chevrolet Chevelles go to the high bidder in this combination sale. The SS396 four-speed shown here is fairly complete but needs everything, and the non-SS car is disassembled and partially restored with a ton of metal fabrication done. The SS comes with a non-original V8 installed and its numbers-matching engine in pieces. The pair shares a listing here on eBay where at least seven bidders have elevated the two-for-one bids above $24,000.

This SS 396, its own model in ’66, came with the base 325 HP “EH” code 396. Buyers could opt for one of two harder-hitting 396 mills as well, rated at 360 and 375 HP, according to ChevyHardcore. The M21 close-ratio four-speed remains in the car, along with the standard 12-bolt rear end running 4.10:1 cogs. Put it all together and that will snap this Chevy’s front end, and your passengers’ attention, upon launch.

Those seats might actually clean up well enough for a ride down the road, or better! The console is a bonus too. Originally Marina Blue, the SS wears what’s left of a thorough color change to burgundy.

To be clear, you’re getting two cars and two engines, plus a bunch of parts. It sounds like there’s at least “enough here to make you one good” Chevelle, as the saying goes. If the SS looked like the second car, it would be more nearly over the hump, but this deal still has plenty to offer, especially for a hobby-level enthusiast who doesn’t count every hour of labor.

There’s no secrets here; the one-piece floor makes a literal firm foundation upon which to build this one back. Unlike the clean-title SS, the half-redone Chevelle comes bill-of-sale only.

Scavenged and NOS parts from 17 years of ownership come along with sale, making this a true package deal. What would you make out of this as-is two-Chevelle combo deal?

Windshield washer cap on the radiator? Won’t the anti-freeze just smear?

Good thing I’m too old and fat to work on a project like that. I restored my ’66 SS 30 yrs ago and don’t have the pstience to do it again! I’ll just buy one done.

I owned a 66SS with the L-78 engine, four speed w/bench seat and 4:56 rear gears. It was blue with black interior and top. Same mag style hub caps and red line tires. It was pristine when I sold it and when I see pictures like this I want to cry. Who would ever do this to one of the hottest muscle cars ever built. I hope someone can bring this baby back to what it never should have left!

Another wish and my bubble will bust. I can just see myself working on these cars. Love,em but I can,nt see $25,000 and the time and money it would take to restore just one. Be cheaper finding one already done and enjoy driving it . I can see myself now—–getting pulled off and loosing my liscense. They are in nice shape as project.
