When it came to selling automobiles, Chevrolet was still “top dog” in 1964 at more than 1.5 million full-size models. Of those, about two-thirds were the ever-popular Impala, so the seller’s Sport Coupe project had plenty of company. This one is a non-running project that is mostly rust-free but missing a few pieces. Located in Pasco, Washington, you can trailer this one home for $8,500 here on craigslist.

The third generation of the Chevy Impala wrapped up in 1964. The cars were boxier in appearance than the ‘63s, but buyers didn’t seem to mind. A new platform was set to arrive in 1965, and it would go on to set sales records that would never be duplicated. The Super Sport became a series of its own in ’64 and the seller has a door from one, but the rest of the car is a “regular” Impala.

The car has a 327 cubic inch V8 which hasn’t run in an unspecified amount of time. It may be paired with Chevy’s venerable 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. The odometer is said to have rolled over, so how much road time that either have seen isn’t known. While the doors aren’t shown, they’re there somewhere though the inside panels are MIA. Other missing pieces include the windshield, radio, and ignition set-up.

Parts of the interior look new, such as the front and rear bench seats. The same can be said of the carpeting. The white exterior finish paired with a red passenger compartment will be a beautiful combination when restored. The seller has no interest in a trade, nor does he/she want anything to do with Cash App transactions. Who is up for finishing this project?

Buyer would want to get this up and check the frame out. Would be curious if the floors were sanded and sprayed prior to the carpet and seats going in? I have owned 2 Impalas with this drivetrain, a 66 Super Sport and 66 convertible and both were very reliable. The panels, bumpers, grille and trim look very straight with mostly surface being the culprit. It took awhile to catch up with the 62’s and 63′ but the 64’s are climbing much higher in value of late.
