After selling more than 1.2 million examples, the popular Ford Mustang received a facelift in 1967. The car still looked every bit a pony, but it felt a little bigger – and the engine compartment was now large enough to handle a big block V8. Located in Spokane Valley, Washington, this ’67 coupe still retains the base 200 cubic-inch inline-6, but it’s been treated to numerous upgrades. This daily driver is available here on craigslist for $15,000.

The Mustang faced serious competition for the first time in 1967. General Motors added two entries (Chevy Camaro, Pontiac Firebird), and sister Mercury debuted the Cougar. And others would follow. So, it’s not surprising that sales would drop from 607,000 to 472,000 units even with the styling update. However, overall sales for the market segment were up. The seller’s example is rather typical with an automatic transmission.

Not all vintage cars have to be pristine classics. This Mustang isn’t perfect, but it looks pretty good, and investments have been made in its mechanical health at 140,000 miles. The I-6 is newly rebuilt with lots of extras, and the tranny was redone three years ago. An oversized radiator is there along with an electric cooling fan. The ignition has been converted to electronic, but the original parts have been saved. Brake work was also done, and the gas tank was replaced.

The buyer will receive a Marti Report for the car, perhaps unusual for one that was produced in masses with no special equipment. The seller has accumulated a cadre of parts, both new and used, that will accompany the sale. A bit of detailing may have made the car look more attractive, and one of the hood hinges appears as though it may be askew. Not every one of these cars has to be perfect to enjoy, and it looks as though that’s the mission of this Ford – to be enjoyed.
