The seller of this nice-looking 1991 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab pickup says that this beauty is a one-owner truck, and sadly, the husband passed away in 1996. Since then, for three decades now, the widow has sporadically driven it. Does that make sense? They have it posted here on craigslist just southeast of one of the great cities of America: St. Louis, Missouri, and they’re asking basically nothing, just $2,500 or best offer. I know! If it had been over twice that amount, I wouldn’t have batted an eye. Here is the original listing, and thanks to Barney for the tip!
If this truck were a 4WD with a 5-speed, it could hardly have been more of a little dream truck, at least for me. As such, with 2WD and an automatic, it’s still super desirable for a majority of the areas and climates in the U.S. and elsewhere. There are only four photos in the listing, unfortunately, and the photo above of the driver’s side is really the only one showing a good portion of the exterior. But with those two exterior photos, it sure looks like a solid truck. The odometer shows 05411, but it’s really 105,411 miles, which is broken in but certainly not worn out by any means. That being said, it’ll likely need some regular maintenance, and it also needs tires, as these are way past their lifespan. Here’s a 1991 Ford Ranger brochure.
The first-generation Ford Ranger debuted in early 1982 for the 1983 model year and was offered until the end of 1992 here. This interior looks like it’s right out of a brochure, and those seats are like the ones we just saw in the 1991 Ford Explorer! You don’t see anything on the hump here, but there is a column shifter for the automatic transmission. For those of you lamenting and/or feeling overwhelmed by vehicle prices today (I didn’t want to say “complaining”), I hope there isn’t much said about the price of this Ranger, especially given its cosmetic condition in the photos. Oh yeah, this one has cold AC! Double-oh-yeah: this is a SuperCab with lots of room behind the front seats. Ok, now it’s my turn to gripe, but only about the lack of photos.
As expected, there is no engine photo, so 2026 is back to normal again. This one is said to have a 3.0-liter OHV V6, only available on the 2WD Ranger, which would have been rated at 145 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. Backed by the four-speed automatic sending power to the rear wheels, the seller says it “runs good,” which doesn’t give me a ton of confidence, but if it runs half as well as it looks, $2,500 or best offer for this SuperCab Ranger is an unarguable steal!

Thanks SG. Looks like a solid Ranger, with plenty of life left in it. Probably the first person who saw it in person hurried to make the payment, before the next person showed up. And perhaps, said person will soon be featuring it on craigslist, for twice the price.
Thats a sad story. She probably missed her husband whenever she drove this truck. That price is like Deal-of-the-Century steal. I’m thinking what Bob’s Thinking, we’ll see this with new rubber if we’re fortunate and probably double or more than this price. But its a very clean original Ranger. I’d be happy to have it.
