Wrecked Classic: 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

Disclosure: Barn Finds may receive compensation from clicks and purchases. Use caution when purchasing vehicles long distance. We recommend inspections before sending money.

This 1965 Chevy Chevelle Super Sport was a beautifully built restomod that was no doubt quite the performer. Unfortunately, the hot car was involved in an accident that ruined the front clip and right rear, and some frame damage is reported. You could buy the car for parts or try to bring it back to life, salvage title and all. But at an advertised price of $32,999.19 OBO, this would be an expensive donor. Located (with a dealer) in Rancho Cordova, California, this LS3 project is available here on eBay. A nod goes to “Curvette” for yet another wild tip.

Chevrolet brought the Chevelle to market in 1964 to join the exploding mid-size car scene. Except for Cadillac and GMC, all of General Motors’s divisions would get in on the act at the same time. The cars received minor styling updates in 1965, and the Super Sport version would compete against the Pontiac GTO, Plymouth Road Runner, and other muscle cars. The VIN and cowl tag confirm this is a real SS, though we don’t know what engine and transmission it originally had.

We’re told this Chevelle is an “LS3 Pro-Touring Restomod” with a 6.2-liter crate motor and a 4L70E automatic transmission. Perhaps the rest of the car was restored at the same time, wearing Metallic Mist Blue paint with a matching bucket-seat interior. The odometer reads 11,000 miles, which could have been a reset when all of this work was done professionally. The car came into contact with a large pole (probably at higher speeds), likely flipped, and the right rear quarter panel and trunk lid were removed as well.

The seller indicates there is some frame damage, so repairing this will be extensive. And we’re told the engine runs, though we don’t know if that’s just for a few seconds. This car left GM’s Kansas City plant 61 years ago, but we don’t know how long it stayed original (for example, with a 327 V8 and a Powerglide tranny). The seller provides a long list of the car’s performance goodies, so big bucks went into the transformation. With a $32k starting point, you’ll need a sizeable investment to get this vehicle back to pre-wreck condition.

Can I? It never gets old,,,oak tree you’re in my way,,my only hope is nobody died, and aside from a nasty bump on the noggin’, I think they survived. This is a 2 part crash. They say the tree 1st, then the barrier I beg to differ, I say, excess speed to begin with, lost it, hit the barrier, and the front damage( tree/pole) stopped them cold. It’s a pretty good clout. Front end zetz like that does a lot of damage. I’m sure insurance paid out, so this is basically greed coupled to more greed. Newsflash, it’s toast, stop milking it,,sigh, I be in the wrong time era, fo’ sho’.
Now, Junior, did you learn a lesson here? Didn’t think so,,,it was a nice car.

Not enough salvageable parts to justify the price.

Holly Fuck!!!! Is this car’s seller stoned on very damn good drugs????? 33K for a wrecked Non-0rginal Chevelle SS seems like a sky high pipe dream this seller is trying to flip it for. Even if this car was not wrecked, would it be worth 33K ??

Prior to the wreck it would have sold for considerably more than $33,000.
