From 1991 through 2002, Pontiac joined forces with SLP Engineering to create limited performance editions of their Firebirds. Dubbed the Firehawk, they were initially based on the Formula models, but the Trans-Am was added later. This 2000 edition of the Firehawk is a 10^th Anniversary model of the car which was specially prepared as part of a promotion for “X-Men, The Movie” which was released the summer of that same year. This two-owner car no longer wears the special graphics that came with it, but a new set is provided for installation. Located in Elk Grove, California, this Pontiac is available here on eBay where the bidding has reached $18,100, but the reserve is still elusive.

After Pontiac shipped Firebirds to SLP, they would begin performing their magic, hopping up the performance of the engine, working on the suspension, and adding special graphics and trim to each of the cars. After taking a year off in 1998, the Firehawk returned on the F-body Firebird for 1999-02, participating in the facelift the rest of the Pontiacs received. They now came with a distinctive hood with a special induction system and the output of the 5.7-liter V8 was boosted to 330 hp.

The seller’s Firehawk may be one of as many as 1,000 10^th Anniversary editions that were made, but we don’t know how many of them were part of the X-Men promotion. It’s on its second owner who helped the original purchaser put just 23,000 miles on the car. Lately, the Pontiac has led an easy life, being mainly seen at a variety of car shows. The original X-Men decals were removed to detail and coat the paint and new ones were acquired to go back on, but that has not happened. The car is being professionally detailed in time for delivery to its third owner.

Part of the transaction will include documentation that consists of a letter of authenticity from SLP Engineering, a list of events the car participated in plus X-Men photo opps, and several poster boards used at these affairs. Thus, we’re told this Firehawk is a “one-of-a-kind.” Though it has a few scratches, it presents well and runs even better, according to the seller.

To help demonstrate this vehicle to interested parties, the seller provides a series of video clips. The walkarounds include the rear and passenger side, the driver’s side, the car in action, a cold start clip, and one the seller describes as “The Report.” Movie cars are sometimes hard to peg relative to their value compared to the stock models.
