The Chevrolet Corvette has served as the Pace Car for the Indianapolis 500 twenty-three times. It was during a purple patch of five consecutive years that this Corvette Convertible rolled off the line in 2007. Chevrolet leveraged its exposure by producing five hundred examples of the Indy Pace Car Edition, and this is your chance to park one in your garage. It isn’t a trailer or a garage queen. What the buyer will receive is an extremely tidy survivor with 8,100 miles on its odometer that they can enjoy as its creators intended. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder PRA4SNW for spotting the Corvette listed here at Hemmings in Osterville, Massachusetts. Bidding sits below the reserve at $15,000 with approximately five days left on the seller’s listing.

Chevrolet produced the C6 Corvette between 2004 and 2013, with the badge serving as the Indy 500 Pace Car five times during that period. In 2007, it released five hundred examples of the Indy Pace Car Edition, celebrating that year’s achievement. Subtle is not a word that describes its appearance, although I am a huge fan of the dazzling Atomic Orange Metallic Tintcoat paint shade chosen by Chevrolet that year. It is complemented by Gold graphics, giving the car quite a classy look. The seller is candid in their assessment, stating that a close inspection will reveal a few minor chips and a scratch repair on the nose. However, the car’s overall appearance is consistent with a high-end driver and won’t embarrass the new owner. There are no panel defects, and the contrasting Black power top fits as tight as a drum. Unsurprisingly for a garage-kept vehicle, this Corvette is rust-free. The distinctive split-spoke alloy wheels are free from physical defects, and the glass is clear.

History shows that some Indy Pace Cars were high on looks but lacked the performance befitting a car of that type. Nobody could level that criticism at the 2007 Corvette, with its 6.0-liter LS2 V8 delivering 400hp and 400 ft/lbs of torque. This car features a six-speed automatic transmission, providing an effortless driving experience. The Z51 Performance Package was standard equipment on the Pace Car, providing stiffer suspension, upgraded brakes, a transmission oil cooler, and other improvements designed to squeeze the best from these classics. The seller claims that this Pace Car has a genuine 8,100 miles on the clock. There is nothing like documentary evidence supporting such claims, but there doesn’t appear to be any in this case. However, the condition makes the figure plausible, and potential buyers can view this gem as a turnkey proposition.

Buyers received a lot for their money when ordering a 2007 Corvette Indy Pace Car. Apart from Black leather trim, the package included climate-control air conditioning, power windows, power locks with keyless entry, power seats, power mirrors with auto-dimming, a leather-wrapped tilt wheel, a premium stereo system with seven speakers, cruise control, and a heads-up display. Also unique was the contrasting trim highlights, mimicking the exterior paint shade. This interior shows slight wear on the driver’s seat, unsurprising given the heavy bolstering on the outer edges. A leather specialist should be able to address that shortcoming relatively easily, and that’s as bad as the news gets. The rest of the interior trim is spotless, there is no evidence of abuse or neglect, and there are no aftermarket additions. The seller confirms that all interior features function correctly.

The low production figure means that most people won’t spot a 2007 Corvette Indy Pace Car during their daily travels. The “Indy” accounted for only around 1.2% of total Corvette production that year, and values have remained stable recently. We can speculate about the seller’s reserve, but recent successful sales suggest that the bidding may need to nudge $30,000 before this classic finds a new home. Would you be willing to pay that amount, or do you have another price in mind?

Nice numbers Clarkey, 400/400. Loaded inside as well, the Hydramatic does the shifting for effortless and swift cruising 🏁
i like the exterior color but that it for me. you can have these vettes
I am a Corvette owner and what you might call obsessed with the car. I have owned one in some form or another since my first ’65 L-79 roadster that I bought in ’67. There are very few years or models that I don’t find ultra attractive (with the exception of the C4) but this one may very well be the exception. I have absolutely no idea of how I have never seen one of these before, but I haven’t. That being said, I find the color and the graphics hideous. I’ve never been a fan of any of the Indy 500 tribute cars because the graphics have always seemed cartoonish to me, but this one “takes the cake”. Now I’m aware that there are going to be a whole bunch of folks that disagree with me, and that’s OK. It is just my personal opinion.
I agree with you, the color is not really something I could live with. For me, color is one of 3 determining factors when considering a Corvette purchase.
Just me, but Atomic Orange (and DSOM) look best with cashmere interior and top…and no graphics. This one has some nice touches…body color door openers, console/pods, rear spoiler, and fuel rail covers. Unfortunately, the tonneau deck hits the top during operation. Not a horrible thing as you can reach back and pull the top up so it clears instead of letting it clunk together.
I agree with the writer’s comment…it should bring close to $30k.
For me, the killer is the automatic…I have never owned a Corvette with an automatic and don’t plan on it.
Get rid of all the graphics and you will have a decent looking Corvette. Having that extra pedal is always a good thing. Especially in any Vette between 1963-1972
I would agree with you that it would be more desirable if it were a manual gearbox, problem is that’s not the case. It’s an autoloader.
Looks will always be a subjective thing, but this one really caught my eye.
Beautiful and unique, graphics and all – the entire package.
