1967 Jaguar E-Type Garage Find

Jaguar XKE Coupe

I get that this  Jaguar is a garage find, but it sure would be nice to see the whole car without the garage contents in the way! With bidding here on eBay already over $20,000, I would like to have better pictures of the car and more information before committing that kind of money! The car is located in Poughkeepsie, New York. While there is some rust around the rear fender openings and a general unloved look about the car, I can believe the mileage claim of 37,000 as many of these cars were used as toys rather than regular transportation, even though this is the less-loved 2+2 version. The car is said to have been taken off the road and stored in a heated garage since 1991. The reason given for storage was to rebuild the carburetors, however, a damaged bonnet could also have been the reason.

The seller characterizes this damage as “not a big deal.” I have to disagree, as reshaping such a large and critical piece of metal is not something to be attempted by the average enthusiast. The metal will have to be both reshaped and shrunk, and if I’m not mistaken, this damage highlights what may have been previous damage (look at the edges of the exposed metal/paint–isn’t that filler?) to the bonnet. Either way, the repair shouldn’t be taken lightly. The automatic transmission is another reason this wouldn’t be the E-Type for me, although that seems to fit the 2+2 tourer better than, say, a 2-seat convertible. The air conditioning evident in the interior pictures is a plus, but the underhood pictures don’t clearly show a compressor. Overall, if you were interested in an E-Type, would this be the one for you?

2 XKE’s back to back. this is a ” private listing ” sale so no way to tell if bidders are good/real. i think the rust belt car has more rust, and if the damage is not a big deal then seller should fix and relist. i too think this car has been ” parked by feel ” more then once. but for less then 100k you could have both cars! interesting find

Most of them have had some damage to the nose but that may just be the tip of the iceberg for something of this price it would be nice to have it hauled outside, or the seller doesn’t want people to see the weird 2+2 shape

Lots of hard sell going on in this one. But you get used to that. The thing that really got my attention is the claim that the seller thinks the “PAINT IS ORIGINAL.” So it’s real good to see how the seller has pre-sanded that original paint and the windshield for the buyer using that nice dust and grime that settled on the car since it was parked in 1991.

once again a seller claiming on 37k original miles, B/S! bidding up to 20,000, not worth it, just sayin…
