1969 Ford Mustang Fastback Garage Find

In the late ’60s, Mustangs were marketed as the young-spirited vehicle option. They are long, low, wide, and roomy. They are cars that are both performance and luxury-oriented. Nearly everyone has heard of the Mustang, and for good reason: they are great cars. The example at hand is for auction here on eBay. The bidding ends Tuesday, January 7th.

The car is finished in the factory Acapulco Blue paint. The paint has seen better days, with many chips, bubbles, and rust. The seller notes rust on both rear quarter panels, the rear seat area, and the trunk. The body and paint will need extensive work before the car is in exceptional condition. It has been sitting in the seller’s garage for at least 25 years.

The interior is finished in black. The car came from the factory with black vinyl standard bucket seats. The interior is in rough condition. Many elements will need to be restored or replaced completely. The seats have significant damage. They will need to be refinished or replaced. This interior could represent a blank canvas for the right buyer.

A 302-2V V8 engine is said to send power to the wheels via a C-4 select shift automatic transmission. The engine bay appears to be in better condition than the rest of the car, though the seller has not started the car in several years, so the mechanical health of the car is largely unknown. This is a great option for someone with excellent restoration skills. Nearly every element of the car needs to be worked on. It’s safe to assume that the car needs some mechanical work, significant body and paintwork, and interior fixes. Overall this could be a great platform for an enthusiast with extra time and money. If you’d like to make this 1969 Ford Mustang yours, bid on eBay before the auction ends Tuesday,

The rust is more prevalent than the seller suggest, drivers rocker and the tops of the inner fender fore and aft of the shock towers. I’d also want a good look underneath. It’s a mess, but fastbacks are in demand. Hopefully it’s future buyer gives it a thorough inspection prior to purchase.

The deal breaker on this 69 Mustang is the rusted qtrs and probably outer wheel wells and rockers. I did that surgery once on a 66 Fastback and swore never again.

I have purchased Mustangs in better condition from wrecking yards.
That one will be a lot of work and $ to get back in shape.

Sad to say, but I think the fun times for this Mustang are over.
