1975 Oldsmobile Cutlass S Hurst/Olds W-25

The most popular Hurst/Olds up to this point, this was not a cheap option package on top of the Olds Cutlass Supreme for buyers. This also wasn’t a classic churn-’em and burn-’em muscle car, it was more of a grown-up muscle car for someone who wore a tie. The seller has this 1975 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Hurst/Olds W-25 listed here on eBay in Galion, Ohio and the current bid is $5,100.

There are some interesting fun facts associated with the ’75 Hurst/Olds, such as, they all were made on Supreme trim level cars, and they were the first to offer the Hurst/Hatch t-top. I already mentioned that 1975 was the best-selling year for this model up to this point, and they also only came in either black or white, as seen here. The Hurst/Olds option was 25% of the price of a Cutlass Supreme, there’s another one. If your local pub has Hurst/Olds trivia night, you can dazzle your friends now. I mean, not that your karaoke rendition of Ethel Merman’s “There’s No Business Like Show Business” doesn’t already do that.

Although, the level of graphics seems to run from soup to nuts as some show hood and trunk stripes, and the side stripes are filled in with gold on some cars, and they aren’t on this one. There seem to be extra stickers/decals on this car. I’m not sure if those are factory or not, but the owner or a former owner must have liked them, and that’s all that matters.

The exterior of this car looks like it’s in outstanding condition, I don’t see a flaw anywhere. The interior didn’t hold up quite as well as you can see. The person listing the car isn’t the owner but a listing agent, and he says that the car has no rust, although there’s a lot of surface rust on the trunk floor. They say that the interior “needs finished” but everything is there to finish it, so presumably the door panels and new seat covers, carpet, etc. The shifter looks like a manual, but it should be a GM THM-350 three-speed automatic.

The W-25 model came with an Olds Rocket 350 OHV V8 with 170 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The seller’s rep says that this one runs great and although this two-ton car is good for a 0-60 time of what is now a very sloth-like 11 to 12 seconds, at the time it was relatively brisk. Are there any fans of these colonnade Hurst/Olds cars out there?

Scotty, I’m pretty sure that’s an automatic. It looks like a vintage B&M automatic aftermarket shifter. I would have thought that it should have the Hurst Lightning Rod automatic shifter though?

It does say automatic in the ad. Luv the T tops.

I agree, Keith. I mentioned that it looks like a manual but is most likely a THM-350. And that shifter seems a bit unusual for this model, hmm…

You’re thinking of a dual gate shifter.Lightning rods came out in the early 80’s on Hurst Olds cutlasses.

Two pedals on the floor and a B&M floor shifter. Automatic that doesn’t even look like a standard.

+10, Maggy, that’s one of my favorite movies of all time. Not just for the story and acting, but the car-spotting.

I am looking for a 75 H/O, but have no time for a project. I can assure you these are very comfortable cars to drive and those swivel buckets make getting in and out a dream as we get older. I am 67, and looking to sell my 73 Corvette, which is turn key and needs very little. It is a pain to get in and out, so I told the wife I want an H/O because they are not many, but when they come up for sale, they are expensive if in good shape. The red and white combo interior is beautiful. They came with black, red or camel colored seat inserts. This car is fixable for sure, just not for me. Looks like the Hurst shifter is missing. Try finding that or the optional digital Hurst tach. Good luck.

George, are you still looking for a 75 H/O? I have one that I’m thinking of selling. Black and has a Mondello 455 in it.

Must be a stalled project. Super nice on the outside, and looks like a flood car on the inside. Or just bad pictures.

Yeah, I’d say you should look at this one very closely. Looks like it has been rode hard, put up wet, then repainted and striped. Also, very ironic that someone adds on more Hurst stickers, while the Hurst shifter is removed (if it was ever there.) And correct, it should have been a Hurst Dual Gate, not lightening rods in 1975.

B.S. 0-60 in 11-12 seconds was NOT relatively brisk for the time it was slow period. Normal for the time but never ever considered brisk lol Just goes to show it all comes down to what kind of demons are in charge at the time. Just like when it was said no more convertibles and look at what’s out there now in horsepower and 0-60 times. Live and let live
