This no reserve auction here on eBay is for a 1986 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup. The 1/2 ton truck is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina and looks like a solid example of a 2WD Square Body. The truck is currently bid to $6,400 with 3 days remaining in the auction. It is being sold by a dealer.
The truck is painted in Grey Blue with a blue interior. It is a driver with a seat cover and some sun fading. The truck was in storage or “unattended” for 15 years but has no rust in the usual spots. Some touch up work on the paint to address surface rust was conducted. Over the last 20 months, the seller removed the engine and replaced it with a mild 305 cubic inch V8 engine which is the same size engine it left the factory with back in 1986. The bed has a rubberized floor mat and a number of items have been replaced or upgraded. The engine compartment looks clean.
New disc brakes were installed upfront along with new shocks all the way around. The GMC has been lowered using McGaughys 2″ front coil and a 4″ rear shackle in the back. Some of the steering components were modified or replaced. A lot of other issues were addressed such as replacing the fuel tank and carburetor. The front and rear windshield were replaced and new seals were installed. The seller states that air conditioning work was done but it does not say if the air conditioning is in working order.
The paint looks faded but the seller states that it is a 7 out of 10. The truck has new exhaust and new Auto Meter gauges were installed in the dash. Since the dash has a cover on it, I assume that means that it is cracked. This is a no reserve auction so there will probably be some strong bidding on Sunday when the auction concludes. This looks like a solid example and a good daily driver.
There are some two light 86’s out there, but not many. And the horizontal bars are black.
I bet them valve covers add 50 hp.
Nice looking truck add reads Mileage 123456 but odometer reads 10 miles not sure if that would cause title issues in other states, only $6400 for a running and driving square body does this mean prices are finally coming down?
No no no. It means it’s not Sunday yet. Wait and see. $6400 isn’t going to buy that truck.
I had an 86 short bed Silverado that I custom ordered from Don Steve Chevrolet in La Habra California white with charcoal gray dual tanks tow package loaded I wish I still had that truck today
This one won’t last long, it checks all the boxes for a C-10. Two wheel Drive, Short Box, V-8 and above average condition

Great truck, and fairly priced at the moment. I have a 85 Chevy C10 with a 350 and wouldn’t sell it at any price. These are harder than ever to find in decent shape these days. This one does check most all the boxes for most 80s GM truck lovers.
Any price? Right…
Any price, no, i wouldnt sell my 85 C10 for the $8600 this one sold his for anyway. I wouldn’t sell mine for double that price. Got too much time and upgrades in it, and lots of great memories. Be too hard to replace it.
I think the new gauges look cool!
