I know, I know, this isn’t a dirty, dusty or rusty old car, but I believe it has been in a garage most of its life. It’s also rare (a two year run of 10K), chances are you and many others haven’t ever seen one or had the chance to purchase one of these Nissans. This one is listed here on craigslist in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. It has that interesting retro design and would be fun to own and drive.
This BE-1 only has 63,000 kilometers/39,146 miles on it. It is powered by a 1 liter 4 cylinder mated to a 3-speed automatic. Recent service includes: timing belt, R134a conversion, front & rear struts, brakes and turned rotors. New modern 15 inch mags & tires are on the car but the the original 12 inch rims w/new Bridgestone tires are included in the sale.
You will note that these are RHD vehicles. There is a JVC AM/FM/CD/Aux radio with a removable faceplate for your listening pleasure.
Claimed mileage, your actual mileage may vary (by the way, VW is having to say that a lot lately), is 54 mpg city and 72 mpg hwy., with a top speed 87 mph (hold on!).
Cheers,
Robert
never seen one
looks like a helluva lot of fun
drive a slow car fast
wait, what’s that?
a slushbox.
psssssst
that’s the sound of all the fun being let out of the bag.
redwagon,
I believe to date there is only one in the USA.
Cheers,
Robert
…..like very much…only wish that it was located 3k miles closer…
– 1.0 liter non-turbo 52 HP with automatic, designed to be “a fashionable city car”. Probably good for downtown Toyko, but I would not want to be mixing it up with the 75 MPH traffic flow on the I-5 in L.A.
– Has A/C but fortunately has “power nothing”, so it could be worse
– Seller also offering a Figaro if you double the $14.5 asking, but no pics or info. By that time you’re into Very Interesting Car money, even with Canadian money.
– Seller has a bit of an attitude, but it’s an interesting attitude. And who gets warm/fuzzy feelings when they think about those enormous PayPal fees anyway?
Interesting, but I’m with redwagon: A manual trans would seem to raise the fun factor to acceptable.
Dig the 7K redline. I wonder if any swaps/hopups might be bolt-in?
These sure were a good investment! Just think, buy one a year or two ago for $3500-5000 in Japan, ship it to Canada, wait till it’s 25 years old and US legal and BAM, flip it for $10k profit! Easy-peasy puddin pie… -_-;
