This 1991 BMW 325ic convertible has more than a few things going for it, including a rare paint code, a rust-free chassis, and the preferred combination of the 2.5L inline-six and five-speed manual transmission. The car has lived in Arizona since new and it shows, with a gorgeous undercarriage and factory undercoating still visible. Mileage isn’t particularly low, but it has clearly been loved under its current ownership. The seller has listed it on behalf of the owner here on eBay and bidding is at $10,000 with no reserve.
While the paint may look like just another boring shade of tan, Kaschmirbeige is actually a fairly rare color among early 90s BMWs. Some claim that it was an “Individual” color, that being one that had to be special ordered, but I think the truth is closer to it just not being chosen all that frequently by 3-Series buyers at the time. Regardless, it’s a darker shade of tan that mixes in a bit more brown, and I personally love it. It looks particularly sharp if you replace the black soft top with a brown one. Wheels, trim, and the rear soft top glass all look clean and clear.
Inside is perhaps the biggest disappointment, thanks to the influences of an ex-girlfriend. Yes, I’m referring to the upholstery, which is obviously a custom job that the owner’s previous paramour requested. I don’t really know what it’s intended to resemble, as it just looks like ants are crawling up and down the seats from this vantage point. Still, replacing the upholstery is no big deal, and there are also plenty of good, used bucket seats with the thick bolsters like these available from enthusiast owner groups. Bear in mind, you’ll have to replace the rear seat as well.
The engine bay is relatively spotless, and the overall cosmetics are super appealing with this example of BMW’s E30-platform droptop. It has been repainted, so that’s a bummer, and I’d want to be sure that the paint job used the correct spec of paint, as many shops don’t know the difference between Kaschmirbeige and regular Bronzit, another common E30 shade of tan. Regardless, the seller says the car pulls strongly through the gears, and that aside from an on-board computer diagnostics screen and the radio, most everything functions as it should. Buy one now!
Great comment on the ants Jeff! Great looking rig, but the seats, well. She must have been smoking hot, or maybe her daily driver. I am going to test drive a nice1999 528i today. Snowing here now so it should be fun. This droptop will give someone a big smile when they are behind the wheel. Someone wants it bad, I see an 8K bump in the bidding.
Perhaps the ex-girlfriend was a myrmecologist, who was adamant about having marabunta upholstery. I’d feel a little crawly sitting in these seats (another term for it just on the tip of my tongue). Definitely don’t want to spill jam in this cockpit!
Do they still make sheep-skin seat covers?
Kaschmirbeige is not much off from Bronzit, still urban camo in my book.
Gold on tan…

A recent auction flip?
This color became all the rage in the 90’s. My Mom bought a Maxima this color and would tell everyone it was “champagne color” everywhere you looked on the road you saw this color. Today’s equivalent would be all the black, grey, white, silver cars we see. Nice E30. Ill net those seats matched her favorite handbag designer.

Nice to see a convertible without assburn leather upholstery.
Sold, then instantly relisted. The seller’s shill bidder must have got stuck with it….
