Super Clean: 29k Mile 1993 Ford Mustang LX Convertible

In the classic car world, a sheltered existence always shows. Cars that have been treated respectfully invariably present well, and are rarely burdened with tacky or unnecessary aftermarket additions. This 1993 Ford Mustang LX Convertible carries those hallmarks and a known history. The lack of visible issues is unsurprising, considering it has a genuine 29,000 miles on the clock. It rarely ventures from the safe confined of a warm garage but is a turnkey proposition for its new owner. The seller has listed this drop-top here on eBay in Lake Stevens, Washington. They set their BIN at $16,000 OBO but might consider trades for an appropriate classic.

I have long been a fan of the Fox-Body Mustang range, and have never hidden that fact. I think that part of the appeal is the styling. The Mustang II and later models all drew inspiration from the iconic original vehicles. The Fox-Body has a more “European” flavor that shares virtually nothing with those that came before or after. This LX Convertible is 1-of-27,300 ordered in 1993, with the first owner selecting Vibrant White to cloak its exterior. Finding anything to fault is virtually impossible. The paint is spotless, the panels are laser-straight, and there is no evidence of rust. The Black soft-top fits as tight as a drum, but I will say that I prefer the look of these cars with the top down. The glass is clear, and there is no physical damage to the wheels.

Many enthusiasts acknowledge that interiors can be a weak point with these Mustangs. Plastic can deteriorate, and the outer seat edges can wear with use. However, this Convertible’s lack of such problems is consistent with the claimed odometer reading. The combination of Red cloth and vinyl is classy, and while describing it as “showroom fresh” might stretch credibility, hitting the road with the top town won’t cause any feelings of shame. The drivetrain configuration combines with the interior appointments to provide a “complete” motoring experience. The new owner receives air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, cruise control, and an AM/FM radio/cassette player.

This Convertible’s mechanical specifications prove that Ford was returning to the top of its game when the subject turned to performance, and the situation would continue improving. The buyer receives a 5.0-liter V8, a four-speed automatic transmission, and power assistance for the steering and front disc brakes. The V8 produces a healthy 205hp and 275 ft/lbs of torque, placing a flat 16-second ¼-mile ET within reach. The seller has been this car’s custodian for around two years, having purchased it from the elderly original owner after it hibernated for eight years. That makes the odometer reading of 29,000 miles appear plausible. After revival, this classic runs and drives perfectly, and is a turnkey proposition for the new owner.

Finding fault with this 1993 Mustang LX Convertible is seemingly impossible, making it ideal for enthusiasts seeking a high-end driver. It appears to need nothing, and the price looks extremely competitive. With the cold months upon us, now might seem an odd time to park a classic Convertible in the garage. However, doing so now would give the buyer something to look forward to once the weather turns warm once again. That sounds pretty tempting, but is it enough to convince you to pursue this gem further?

Black interior would’ve really looked sharp.

Nice Fox convertible. Low miles. Looks to be in great shape. Not overly expensive. Would be a fun cruiser.

I have a ’91 LX in this same color scheme. I have to wonder if it got a repaint because the body side moldings are white while mine are black. I like the look though. I can attest it’s a fun cruiser and has plenty of grunt.

The side moldings were body color on the ’92s and ’93s, black on the ’87-’91s.

Nice clean Mustang, but why did the seller have to rattle can the rear wheel wells and suspension? Not needed or desired on a clean original.

Had an identical car, but a white top and 5-speed manual. Fun to drive and the 5.0 had plenty of pep as an everyday driver. Didn’t keep it long, though. This one’s a really nice example at a fair price, I prefer the look of the LX instead of the GT with the tacky body kit look.
