Was 1994 really 32 years ago already? This 1994 Chevrolet K1500 Silverado Z71 Extended Cab 4×4 pickup looks like it’s two years old, not 32 years old. I love seeing how some owners take care of their vehicles like this. They have this truck posted here on craigslist in (the Village of) Pinehurst, North Carolina, and they’re asking $17,900. Nice job on the photos, seller! It felt great to say that for a change. Also, what a great-looking truck. Whether you’re a Ford, Dodge, or Chevy person, as far as American trucks go (or Cybertruck, Rivian, Slate, etc.), some of us like them all, no matter the make or all-important badge is on the grille. Just so they’re nice, this top-level Fleetside 1/2-ton extended cab 4×4 Silverado is nice enough to almost interest a casual Ford or Dodge fan, if there is such a thing. Here is a PDF owner’s manual, just for the heck of it.
Here’s what it looks like inside the bed, with the bedliner material looking as clean as the rest of the truck. The fourth-generation Chevy C/K-series pickups were offered here for model years 1988 through 2000 in regular pickup form. A one-ton chassis cab model continued until 2006. This has to be one of the most desirable configurations, being a 4WD (K-series), extended cab, Fleetside bed as opposed to what Chevy referred to as a Sportside rather than Stepside in this era, the top-trim Silverado, and the Z71 package that offered some subtle off-road suspension tweaks. I’m assuming this beautiful truck has never been off of a paved or gravel road; it looks too nice.
A red interior; it doesn’t get any better than that in my world. The seller says this truck has 90,000 miles, and I would have guessed much less than that. They say it has led a pampered and garage-kept life, and that sure shows in the photos. As expected, the Silverado gives a lot of luxury for the buck, and it looks almost like new inside, including peeking into the extended cab area. I couldn’t find a 1994 Chevrolet pickup brochure, but here’s a 1993 brochure and a 1995 brochure. They likely aren’t too useful as this truck is right between those years.
The engine is Chevrolet’s… uhhh… The seller says V8 but doesn’t give any numbers, and three were available: a 305, 350, and 454. Many of you will be able to pick it out by its appearance, but I’m far from a mid-90s Chevy V8 expert, which goes without saying. It should be backed by a two-speed transfer case and a four-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels as needed. They say it’s in excellent mechanical condition, everything works (including the AC), and it has a “new cat back Summit performance exhaust.” Any thoughts on this great-looking K1500 Silverado?
These are very nice trucks. This one looks like it has about 80,000 miles less than what they’re claiming. Really clean. I want it!!! I enjoyed those brochures too Scotty thank you. I just hope this goes to a nice garage kept new home as well. They’re only this clean and original once.
In my opinion, this was a high point for GM trucks, comfortable, smooth, dependable
MUCH better corrosion resistance than today,
And the interiors were really pleasant to live with.
a 32 year old truck with 80,000 miles is not worth 17K dollars. More like half of that.
A 32 year old, Z71 with 80k miles is worth about $17-20k…this is not some Ford truck..you are looking at a OBS Z71 Silverado

No matter how nice, they are asking square body prices. Come to the west coast, there are a lot of really nice extended cab 2 and 4wd Chevy trucks from this era driving around. It may reach the sellers asking price at some point, but it’s likely a long way from that.

…ahh. No…Square Bodies with this milage and condition are well into the $30k range..OBS Z71 Silverados are hight teens to low $20s
Maybe, but this truck has been listed for 7 days, so far. I don’t follow these and am regularly surprised by cars and trucks, both to the high and low side. The one thing that tends to be a constant is that good deals don’t last, if the market local to this truck thought that was the case it would already be gone. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad deal, just not a good deal.

As a former GM tech for over 30 yrs I can tell you what engine it has.. the 350 V8. The 305 was never offered in the Z-71 package. The 454 was only offered on 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. Except the 454 SS, which was a limited run and never a 4×4, hope that clears the engine size issue up.
As far as the price, I’ve seen way worse examples going for 12k, so seller may not be too far off.
For a GMT400 (GM Truck 88-98) Silverado Z71 the referred “V8” is more than likely the 5.7l 350ci version. The 7.4 was not made available in 1/2 ton 4×4 (tho it was in a 2wd “SS 454” special model). Altho the 5.0l 305 was an available version, most of those went into the 2wd trucks..would be VERY rare to be a Z71 Silverado and a 305. The only thing that could make this more desirable would be a manual transmission.
I would agree that the engine is likely a 5.7 V8. Few people would have wanted less, but there’s always one person. Interestingly the Z71 durability prototype that we ran at Milford was a regular cab short box equipped with a 4.3 V6 and 5-speed. Of course, anything is possible inside the fence.

They never made the Z-71 with a 305, too much added weight with that package. As you said, 454 in a 1500 was only the limited run 454 SS and those were never 4×4.
I’ve owned 4 of those great trucks, easy to work on, modify, looking for another one now, and prices are going up as the box Chevys are getting stupid expensive

We had a ’94 GMC Suburban,& I didn’t care for the
cheap looking plastic dash,& controls.I had a ’96 F150,
& it was so much nicer.
They made the dash nicer looking in the 1995 model. But it was hard to beat the comfort of the bucket seats used from 1988-1994.
Ours had a Silver leather interior.At least the seat belt
kept me from sliding around.
Ours had everything,except good gas mileage.We were
excited if we saw double digit mileage! Of course having every
option (+ a 454) didn’t help,plus it weighed 6800 pounds.

this is cheap money for this trunk in this condition. these sell for north of 25k+ on B A T all the time for more than this. there is an 89 4×4 with 198 original miles which i saw in person that is @ 50k with a day to go. truck is showroom new. these are more dependable than today’s trucks hands down. surprised it’s still available.
Welcome to 2026 where a Franklin buys what a Jackson bought when this truck was new. An equivalent late model used truck will cost darn near twice as much as the ask on this cream puff. And who knows but you could maybe be the poor schmuck who gets one that has GM’s self destructing engine feature. This truck will probably be on the road twenty years from now still running like a top. I’m not presently in the market for a pickup but if I were I’d be all over this. Having had a Tahoe of the same generation; you had me at the captain seats. I’ll say GLWTS, but the seller won’t need much luck to move this truck. I’m also pretty sure that like any savvy seller their asking price leaves them some room to negotiate.
Just in case anyone cares as a side note, and one ever shows up on Barn finds or BAT, GM also offered a camper special. A 3/4 ton truck with 1 ton running gear. Only came in single cab long bed.
454 engine, 4l80e trans, 1 ton front and rear differential and transfer case but 3/4 suspension., it was for a slide in the bed camper, if anyone remembers those.
It was made for when you didn’t have the camper installed you didn’t have the super rough ride of a 1 ton truck with the bed unloaded.
I hade one, a 96 model that unfortunately got totaled by a guy that ran a red light and T-boned it 😡

I have a 1997 all most the same truck and white I have had for 19 years .I paid $5300 for it in 2007 it had 122,000 miles It has 245,000 miles on it now. I like this one but $18000 ?? Iam 74 and a retired Auto teck I drive a 1957 chevy pu and a 1956 chevy 210 in the summer ,I can fix them don,t need a computer lol .
