The Cadillac De Ville series dominated the luxury car landscape for the back half of the 20th Century, in production from 1949 to 2005. And within those ranks, the Coupe De Ville was equally popular, including this sixth-generation beauty from 1992. The automobile appears to have time capsule qualities, with loads of history and just 27,000 miles on the odometer. Located in Roswell, Georgia, this third-owner automobile is available here on craigslist for $13,200. Larry D comes through again with another awesome tip.
In its final years, production numbers for the Coupe De Ville tended to put the car into exclusive territory. For 1992, Cadillac built just 6,980 of the coupes plus another 443 Fleetwoods with a little higher level of trim. All of them were assembled at a single plant in Michigan and the most popular color was Cotillion White, which the seller’s car wears. That means it was one of 1,879 put together in 1992. Unlike all Cadillacs (except the Eldorado) built before 1985, these cars employed front-wheel-drive and were smaller in overall size but retained similar interior dimensions.
The seller has kept track of the comings and goings of this car. It was first purchased in Kentucky, then moved to Florida, and finally settled down in Georgia with the seller. Other than a newer set of tires and a battery, everything about this Cadillac is said to be original and unmarred. It’s the “Gold Edition” that came with a continental kit (now in the trunk). Garage kept, none of its owners have used the auto much, with an average of just 900 miles each year since new. About three years ago, the air conditioning was converted to R134 (score one for ecology).
Inside the car, the Lapis Blue interior looks quite inviting and shows no obvious signs of being 30 years old. The 4.9-liter, 200 hp, fuel-injected V8 fires up easily and we’re told the car runs and performs extremely well. The next owner will receive a car cover and documentation including the original window sticker. This Caddy could be the nicest of its model year still ticking, although I’m betting a few other garage queens are lurking around out there.
A couple years ago I had an ULTRA low mile DeVille from this era, it had almost 16,000 at the time I advertised it here.
I really liked mine, actually thought about keeping it, but I had other pressing issues.
That being said, I REALLY like this one. The coupe is by far more unique (rare) although I think the side view proportions are not right. I would still drive it, even with the awkward proportions.
REALLY nice car!
Man I need to stay off this website. This would look great sitting beside my 91 DeVille with 28K on it that I also found on BF and had to have it.
Good thing GA is a long ways away. By 1990 and later the Cadillac HT v8 had the bugs worked out and they run pretty nice. Peppy and quick revving, they are all you need in a car like this for nice cruising.
So much to think about
You are so correct. Between the 1982 Fleetwood I had with the 4100 that was a p.o.s. & my ’93 DeVille, the differences are HUGE!
These are great cars!
Can’t argue with the condition of this car. It’s beautiful, like new inside and out. And though many will probably disagree, I find the carriage roof attractive on this car. I rented one back when these cars were new, and was surprised at how fast it was. But these days, I’d be gun shy about buying one because of the 4.9 engine. An aluminum block and intake manifold, with iron heads, were never a good combination. Love the looks and condition of this car, but I’d be scared to take a chance on it because of that engine…
Coonrad, I believe you have this reliable 4.9L engine confused with the 4.6L Northstar. That infamous powerplant wasn’t available until 1993 and only in the Eldorado and Seville STS
I’ve had 4 of these black, white, and blue with the carriage roof and one with the half vinyl. These are some good cars until stuff start breaking and it becomes a pain. Even if I was close to this one and had the money, I would shy away from it to fight the temptation of owning a 5th!
I have a white coup DeVille without the ugly top, got it with 83000 miles, now it’s at 93000. 800 bucks put in a battery, charged the AC, replace a busted up right front fender, and the stereo and rear speakers, 16in American racing torq thrusts. I’m very happy with this old Caddy, she runs great two road trips to Minnesota and Back no problem. Somebody is going to be happy to buy the one in Georgia.
An ugly Grandma Car if there ever was one.
(My grandma has a 2017 Corvette).
He is not going to get $13,200 for this car. The north-star engines had a host of serious and costly problems with cylinder head bolts and the engine cradle gaskets being cooked by the exhaust pipes. Plus the turbine speed sensor had a bad habit of going out which required you to almost remove the engine to repair it.
NOT a NORTHSTAR.
Northstar has nothing to do with this car.
