“Nearly museum quality” is how the seller describes this retired-veteran-owned 1990 Dodge Power Ram 150 4×4 pickup, and with just 27,995 miles on the odometer, they could be right. There is one disclaimer: they say that due to 1990s Dodge truck paint quality, the seller had the truck painted and they spent “top dollar” on that. This pickup is listed here on eBay in Voluntown, Connecticut and the current bid price is $9,200 but the reserve isn’t met.
I believe this good-looking repainted pickup color is called Pacific Blue and oddly enough, this truck is located about 20 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, for those keeping track of such things. Enough of that. The first-generation Dodge Ram pickups were made for the 1980 model year until the end of 1993 when the same basic design still used today, three decades later, was introduced. Hagerty is at $16,200 for a #3 good-condition truck and $24,200 for a #2 excellent truck so this one has a long way to go.
The EFI badge on the tailgate touts the new-for-1989 throttle-body fuel injection and it was a welcome change for most buyers in ease of starting and driving, in general, not to mention adding around 20 horsepower to the mix. I’m still holding out hope that our own Todd Fitch will have time to sneak an EFI system on my little Dodge pickup one of these days. (no pressure, Todd, ha!) (I’d pay you, of course)
The interior looks beautiful and is several steps above the level of our 1969 Ford F-250 Camper Special Ranger, even though it was the top-of-the-line in that era. I expected to see power windows here but it looks pretty loaded otherwise. The seller says this truck had a topper/cap and a bedliner when they got it but, sadly, we don’t see any photos of the bed at all. They say they took the bedliner out to see what the bed looked like and it looks great.
The clean engine is Dodge’s 318-cu.in OHV fuel-injected V8 with 170 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Sending power through a TorqueFlite automatic transmission and transfer case to all four wheels when needed, this one is said to be “super smooth”, the brakes are perfect as are the tires. This looks like an amazing truck. I’d love to have this one, how about you?
Great example 👍 of Ram Tough 🐏
Like ’em or not, those Ram hood ornaments are epic (!) and near impossible to find now in the wild.
Upon further inspection, don’t recall Dodge offering cab clearance lights on the half-ton series. The under hood light appears to be sourced from a Ford and it was actually a great idea as it’s on a reel approx 18′ (ish) in length. No denying the condition, but it seems as if it’s not really a loaded truck per ‘se, but more of a stripper as there is no tilt wheel, cruise, intermittent wipers, and no A/C which was not uncommon at the time. However, the sliding rear window can help with that. It would look nice in my driveway.
Mark, the clearance lites were a popular option w owners who ordered the snow plow equipment. Maybe this Dodge came w the great sno-fiter pkg, and it included the lites ?
Seems to sit nice and tall in the front for a half ton.
At first glance I thought it was a W250. This package is an SE, giving you the cloth and carpet on an otherwise base truck. Sure looks good 35 years later. They ride like a 60s truck because they are. But if ride is your thing you drove a Chevy.
Think of how many trucks like this you could buy for the price of one new truck. Okay, no creature comforts, bells and whistles but this will probably be running long after a “new truck” is sidelined by, rust, wiring or a computer issue! “I like new stuff, especially if it’s old…”
Auction update: this one made it to $14,800 and the reserve wasn’t met so no sale.
