The Sedan Delivery dates back to the days of the Ford Model A and the Great Depression. It was a wagon-based delivery vehicle that usually came with no frills. The concept was shifted to the new Falcon compact platform in 1960, and dwindling demand ended the Sedan Delivery in 1965. The seller has one of what was once a long line, but was down to 649 units in 1965. This vehicle was previously partially restored and became a restomod, sporting a rebuilt 302-cubic-inch V8 with less than 1,500 miles. Located in Escondido, California, this rare wagon is available here on eBay for $15,000. A nod goes to “Curvette” for yet another great tip.

Ford’s decision to shrink the Sedan Delivery in 1960 doesn’t seem practical. The new Falcon would turn out to be a popular car, but its size would limit the amount of space that could be allocated to cargo (and its weight would be constricted, too). Most Sedan Deliveries had an inline-6, but the seller’s ’65 edition once had a 289 V8, according to the VIN. The seller has only owned it for about a year, so perhaps some or all of the work was done on the prior owner’s watch, though he has a fistful of receipts.

In recent years, the mechanical work done to the vehicle includes the 302 (modified to produce 300 hp), headers, electronic ignition, rebuilt automatic transmission with overdrive, front disc brakes, a later Mustang steering rack, rebuilt rear end, and more. The front seat was redone, and the sedan delivery has a matching rear seat, which would have been unusual for this type of vehicle.

Body work was done and Wimbledon white paint applied, but the prep work was not done well, and it has issues in the aftermath. We’re told it looks good from 10 feet, but no closer, and you’ll start to find the flaws. The seller has a collection of receipts that add up to $55,000, amassed since 2023. So, at the asking price, someone is taking quite the financial bath. There are a few idiosyncrasies, like the speedometer reading 90 mph when you’re doing 65. And finicky turn signals and a gas gauge that works at will (no doubt a grounding problem). If you’re looking for rare and don’t demand perfection, will this Falcon deliver for you?

Interesting but too many finickys and too much money. Neat cruiser though.
